I suppose 'regular' could also mean someone who is not necessarily a permanent cast addition but someone who might be in for an extended period and have several storylines before eventually departing. Jackson could be described as a regular in this way. Perhaps, Kasim will be in for a similar period.
I like Kasim and hope he is there for a good amount of time.

Does anyone know how old the Kasim actor is? I was shocked to find out the actor who plays Finn is 22, I thought he was more like 25-28ish.
I would guess Ethan Avdiyovsky/Kai who plays Kasim is a very similar age to Joe Gill (Finn) i.e. 22
Ethan graduated from ALRA North in 2015 with a three year BA in acting. So logically, if he started that at 18 he would have finished it aged 21. So he will probably be 23 years old sometime this year.
(I am assuming he started that degree without having a gap year).
He does look around 23 to me, even with the beard. He has a young face with young eyes.
I would have put Joe Gill down as about 25 but not any older
