When she said it was like a kids' party for adults, my immediate reaction was "And what's wrong with that?!"

Could be loads of fun if done properly and you're in the right mood!
to be fair, if someone said "would you like to go to a party in an aquarium, we have singing mermaids", i'd probably guess the tone wasn't for me & not go in the first place. Although saying that, given the TV cameras, i'd probably assume it was for The Apprentice & go anyway for a laugh...

And you would almost certainly be right.

I do wonder how obvious it is to the general public on the street etc that their interactions are being filmed for the Apprentice. How obvious are the TV cameras? And presumably they have to get consent from people before they show them on the telly, or do they?

Anyone know??

I would certainly imagine so. And surely they are followed everywhere by cameramen with loads of filming equipment and mics etc?

Probably not for passerby's but if dialogue is involved I should think yes.

Why else would they pay 49 quid to see a singing mermaid? For a chance to be on TV of course.

I get the impression that Karren is fulfilling a brief.
Yeah its her last series..... Wouldnt be surprised if she has had enough and gets replaced.

I must admit the one where she was in the motor boat was priceless TV.

Karren and Claude are the real giveaways. Without them, it could be any television show being filmed.

Karen has been supportive of Jessica throughout the whole series. I like her for that.

I usually like Karren but I thought she was unnecesarrily rude yesterday when she and Claude turned up at the house and Courtney politely asked her if she wanted a tea or coffee, instead of saying no politely she just said "let's just get on with it".

I'm guessing she has been told to ramp up the evilness this series. Claude on the other hand seems to have got nicer. Though that could change come the interviews

yeah i was about too comment about this , just no need for it at all

I can't stand her tbh , she is ruining this series with her "sucked a lemon" face and catty remarks , she has been a bitch imo

Spent 12 years in a former life back in the 80's working my way up the corporate ladder with American Express working in the UK, Middle East, Switzerland and Australia and I remember a story from a US colleague of mine who knew and worked with one of the top worldwide executives, Lou Gersner.

Lou was one of the very top brass (went on to turn around IBM) and these men / women were treated like royalty around the company.

A while after working with him in the company, my friend bumped into him and asked him how it was going.

Lou's reply was; 'You know, Mary, just kicking ar~es and taking names'.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be a joke (it was a phrase that may well have come from army life) but Gersner had a reputation for being notoriously tough.

People who presented to him knew that they had 15 minutes and that was it. If they didn't get to the point, they were unceremoniously 'given the hook'.

So, when Karren starts sneering at people and being tough (but fair), I think of Gersner.

I agree that her response was completely out of order but having watched the show for years (takes me back to corporate times without actually having to take part!) and having read all the threads on here about how this and other reality shows are put together, I look at her comments as someone scripting a response to project a certain image.

We don't know but someone may have told Courtney to ask them; someone else may have told KB to give him short shrift?

I worked for some excellent bosses in my 12 years and I'm still in touch with many of them and many of my colleagues - we meet up regularly and are in touch on social media etc.

But once in management, you had to be able to KA&TN and I had to do it on a number of occasions. It was seen as a last reort as the management culture was very much to train and work with those reporting to you to help develop them and ultimately get them to do the work, not you.

My problems began when I couldn't turn on the tough guy act anymore.

After being involved in the company's Middle East business when Hussein invaded Kuwait (an experience based in Bahrain which had been fantastic up to that point), I lost the spark and despite a move top an even bigger job than the one I was in, down in Sydney with a marvellous flat and all the trappings of rising corporate success, I walked a way from it after one afternoon, when a memo landed on my desk and I looked at it and said to myself, 'I can't do this anymore'.

There would be no more KA&TN for me!!!

Thankfully, other good things have followed for me including a job where I had to manage a large team of people. I never once resorted to KA&TN.

indeed . she was downright , pointlssly , rude.

She seems to be playing a panto role - to the detriment of saying anything accurate or useful.

I can see what she's trying to do, but she lacks the style to pull it off.

The tea incident was just cringeworthy.

The tea incident was also cringeworthy from the other point of view. Did Courtney think Karren and Claude just happened to be passing and dropped in for a chat ? Because if not, he should have realised there must be a strict schedule.

I don't think it was cringey from the other side at all politeness costs nothing he was just making a nice gesture, so in return she could have politely turned it down, I don't understand why there would need to be an injection of vileness from someone asking if you want a drink

she should book herself with all this cash into charm school

"Would you like a cup of tea?"
"No, thank you."

Not difficult to get through that exchange without being needlessly rude, is it.

Which is why I think it may have been a set up exchange to make her look tough.

Trouble is she has no acting ability, so it just makes her look unpleasant.

Margaret Mountford had an acid tongue when she wanted, but there was always a twinkle in the eye to make it clear it was more of a quip than a really nasty comment.

I agree but while I don't particularly like Brady I agree with the FM a few posts back who said Its almost like shes been instructed to play the panto villain.you simply couldnt conduct yourself in everyday business with such a lack of grace and manners.it seems the producers want her and Claude to play good cop bad cop.

Totally agree - she's clearly been instructed this series to play the nasty role.

Nobody would want to appear on television being so gratuitously rude and obnoxious for no reason, unless they were an idiot (or certain politicians ). Karrrren may not be the world's nicest person but I seriously doubt she is really as deeply unpleasant as she is putting across in exchanges like this.

No she is not - quite the opposite in fact if you watched all other times she is on TV - and the help she still gives to others.

Karen needs to get out of the Apprentice boardroom and her quips and start sorting out her football club that is rapidly heading down the toilet.
