I thought the scene last night where Bethany bumped into Peter was pretty random and it made me wonder if they are planning on pairing them together. I know it sounds crazy but here me out. First off Bethany clearly has a thing for older men liking Callum and now Gary, and we've seen Peter with a younger woman before (Tina). Also, Chris Gascoyne said the person Peter is paired with would be a shock. What could be more shocking that Peter falling for a girl whose mother is young enough to be his daughter? And finally Kate Oates did the older man/young woman thing with Belle and Dr. Bailey on Emmerdale so all this make me thing a Peter Bethany paring could happen.

I hope not, Peter is a great character who is capable of so much more than going after younger women all the time. Also how old is Bethany? I think the actress that plays her is 20.

I really don't think they'd put 51 year old Peter with 16 year old Bethany. Legal it might be (just) but it's a much bigger age gap than most would be comfortable with and whist soaps like to shock, it would be very hard for Peter not to come across as very predatory, especially as he knew her when she was a small child.
I know Tina was a lot younger but she wasn't still at school abd was experienced romantically and sexually prior to getting with Peter.
I think Toyah, Eva or even Steph are more likely partners.

That could be interesting. I wonder if Toyah's return will be like Donna on Emmerdale, maybe her secret is a child she had by someone on the street.

Never say never, while it would be very odd I can see it happening and what was the point of them bumping into each other last night? You know characters don't bump into each other for no reason.
I had the same thought as you, Mark. I really hope they don't go there though. It would ruin Peter as a character. It would be Martin Platt all over again.

Agreed - it's Chekhov's Gun Syndrome but I really don't think that will be the reason and in this case I am bravely (and probably stupidly) calling NEVER on a Peter/Bethany hook up.

See I knew I couldn't be the only one who thought this. I don't want to see the pairing either it would be a bit too much. It might be funny though seeing Gail going off about it telling Bethany "He's old enough to be your grandfather!"

Toyah was her mate & went with her for the abortion & when it was all revealed Toyah left after attacking the guy when she mistakenly thought he'd forced himself on Maria!!

Was she 17? I thought she was 16 and assumed Martin was nearing 40. OK, so not that bad then, but it was still borderline creepy! Especially as Martin had a step-daughter the same age as Katy.

I did think it was a little odd but might just have been a way of hammering how uoset she was at seeing Gary and Sarah home to the audience. She was so upset snother character could see it.
Also, a way of reminding us that Peter is basically a nice bloke who will show concern for somebody he sees is upset.
