I might be reading into it a bit much. However him accusing D of stealing before even giving her a chance to pay which many associate as a black thing could have been a catalyst because he doesn't want people of colour working for hin because he thinks they are criminals.

It could also be that he just doesn't fancy her like he does Honey and only wants women he fancies working there.
