Smart Watch
I've been toying with the idea of a smart watch for over a year now. Has anyone got any advice between a Samsung S2 (or S3) and the Huawei Watch. I'd love the Samsung but the idea of Tizen puts me off.

Hi. I've recently acquired the Samsung Gear S2 Classic, with the rotating bezel and paid £195 for it. At that price, it's pretty good value. I'm happy with the primary purpose; telling the time and getting the notifications. There are some useful apps e.g., Uber and S Health and dozens of watch faces. Admittedly, the Gear apps won't be a patch on Android but the choice is yours.
The S2 Classic is fine for me, as it's not overly large (I've seen the S3 Classic and it's huge by comparison for my slight wrists..). The interchangeable straps are useful, as I will swap out the leather ones if going for a run / hitting the gym. Yes, there's no GPS / ability to take calls on the S2, but I can live without that functionality. The S Health app, which syncs to my S6, is very good for tracking steps and even without GPS, it does a good job of tracking my run distance and calories etc (via the accelerometer I think). The battery life is excellent, easily attaining 3-4 days of basic use; checking notifications, setting alarms, replying to messages etc. I expect playing games would see a greater drain of the battery life. NB: the 'always on display' amounts to only a basic watch face i.e., the hands, or a digital read-out. The new S3 allows for the full colour watch face to be displayed in AOD mode. Something to consider... But the biggest plus point is that it looks like a normal dress watch, so goes unnoticed. At a birthday bash at the weekend, all my mates thought it looked great and had never seen one before. I'm happy with my S2 Classic. I'm sure whichever version you go for, you'll be pleased. |

I had a Pebble Time for 18 months and the original Pebble before that. I think they're both great devices for notifications and other basic apps. The simplicity means that you can get 5 days plus battery life out of them.
