Was Paulines husband Joe who went out the window, Derek left the Fowlers when he reunited with his family. The reason he's back I'm guessing is because it's Paulines 10 year anniversary of her death which is bizarre as he didn't even attend her funeral. I agree though idk why he is coming back as he wasn't a great character especially when we have lost the likes of Masood and Belinda

Thanks I hope it's not some silly secret that Pauline had and only he knew.

If DTC was still in charge what's the betting Derek and Pauline had a son called Christopher who is Sharon's half brother

That was Joe - who was briefly Pauline's second husband - who fell out of the window to his death after confessing to murdering Pauline, easy mistake to make as he was very similar to Derek.

They cast Derek as a new male companion for the widowed Pauline but instead of a romantic relationship it was a platonic one as Derek was gay. That was a good move IMO as Pauline was not the type of woman to move on - her love and devotion to Arthur was pivotal to her character, her remaining faithful to him even after his death was very inkeeping with her characterization. However in 2005 the horrendous decision was made to axe Derek in favour of introducing Joe as a new love interest for Pauline. The romantic pairing of Pauline and Joe was a disaster and led to Wendy Richard falling out with the producers and ultimately quitting the show. Pauline's character was then completely trashed in the build up to her exit by the bitter producers because of her criticising them to the press. One of the biggest mistakes in the shows history.
