I love Andre, he must have a season ticket to Strictly the amount of times they have him on, but he is famous for his violin performances and yet we can't hear him over that HUGE orchestra and the singers ... kinda a waste of time him being there
I suppose the blame must lie with the sound dept. for not doing their homework and ensuring the soloist could be heard .
I've heard Andre doing a violin solo many times and never had this problem .

Maybe he wasn't doing a solo. Maybe he was leading from the front and playing along.

What has Tess come as - a bat which has dipped it's wings in whitewash?

I feel horrible being mean whilst this story is being told.
Good description of a ghastly dress

Danny has never played the underdog, amazing what your imagination can conjure up when you don't like someone. .
Get ON Walter - I don't dislike Danny, but some of his fans have got constant 'outraged' syndrome over nothing, and that hacks me off a bit.

True.

But I'd rather have seen Chereene Allen. She's a better violinist and scrubs up well.

kevin has only done one paso at blackpool you think he did one everytime he had to do two quicksteps there on the trot
Is that worse than doing two foxtrots on the step?

Since you've posted 6 times in my shortish thread about the storytelling in Danny and Oti's AT I hope you are not referring to me as it's the only one I've posted questioning a comment I didn't understand. I'm actually all for critical comments if they help the dancers to improve. But even if you aren't, I am glad that my post gave you the opportunity to be so 'outraged' that some people appreciated the dance. Even if you didn't. Which I'm guessing you didn't due to the amount of posts in other threads on a similar theme. I don't even think I posted that much about a dance I liked. So you definitely win on the outraged front. Congrats.

I wasn't referring to you at all. I post a lot on the live threads, I see enough of it there.

And there's no need to be bitchy. Although if it makes you feel good...

Was something cut from Len's Lens?
After Len finished his bit there seemed to be a sharp cut - Len had been nodding about his own observation then he was suddenly bolt upright.
Claudia didn't ask Darcy about anything. She went straight to Craig.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, even if you do push it on us with capitals, LOL But I must disagree. I find Ed cringe worthy and embarrassing to watch, that's mu opinion. The fact a man of his age and experience would put himself through such humiliation baffles me, but that's his choice.

However, as has been argued for time immemorial, this is a dance show first and an entertainment show second. Its called Strictly come DANCING, the clue is in the name. If you want just entertainment watch X-Factor, that's their thing. So is he improving, yup. Is he loving it, seems to be. Is he passionate about learning .... um, well to be honest none of us know that unless we sat him down and interrogated him. Is Ed entertaining? For some yes, and that's absolutely fine, but for others he is not and that too is equally fine. But Blackpool should be as far as he goes unless they are happy for dancers more talented to be kicked off for the joke contestant.
BIB: Nope, you have it precisely the wrong way round. As has been stated since time immemorial, so far as the BBC is concerned - according to the originator of the show - they wanted a light entertainment programme based around dancing. It has always been an entertainment show first, a dance contest second.

Yeah, just checked that on iPlayer, it does look strange. Wonder what it was?

Balls to go next week
I think it's time. Glad to see Greg stayed, he has been near the bottom of the leader board for weeks but that was a good dance and he has never danced before. My faves
are still in, Ed Balls is entertaining but not as good as the others.

I noticed that when Greg was talking before the dance off, he said "I hope I can do better than I did earlier" which was close to blowing the myth of the Sunday results show actually being on Sunday!

Someone makes that kind of comment pretty much every week.

And given Jo and Anton were dancing at an event in London last night, I think everyone just takes it as a given now that people realise the Sunday show isn't live

*forum melts in rage*
Too be fair the Forum is weird, especially the peculiar hate for Greg, has he killed a cat or something? because only that would explain.

Andre Rieu's a genius. He's managed to make his violin sound like a clarinet!
I loved his facial expressions while playing, also thought for a moment Brendan and Natalie were going to crash into him and I think so did he,

I wasn't being and it wouldn't. Didn't you describe Oti as looking like a spider on acid in one of your posts about their AT? I couldn't possible compete! Apologies if that particular one wasn't one of yours.

I wonder why they keep the myth going, they must think they'd get less viewers? Or is it to keep the lid on it so there isn't too much discussion about the result before the Sunday show. The spotlight bit is the part I like the least, especially this week for poor Judge Rinder being made to wait so long. But I suppose a lot of people like that part.

If that were true then why is it those contestants who 'entertain' like Ainsley, Alison Hammond, Scott Mills, Dave Myers, Russell Grant, Lisa Riley, etc, etc, never even get a sniff of the glitter ball? All of these and more have been on the show and are entertaining (according to a lot of people on DS) and so should be kept in by your argument and yet are all gone by week 9 or 10 because their dancing wasn't good enough. If the entertainment value was what the creators wanted why make it a dance show at all? Why have professional dance judges scoring? It just doesn't make sense to then concentrate on dancing while sending the entertainers home.

That's certainly something that's confusing me. With how vicious people are about him, you'd think he was an utter twit and a DIRTY RINGAH all wrapped in one.

Instead, he's a hard-working kid who seems to have a good sense of humor about everything, a down-to-earth understanding of his limitations as a dancer, and a determination to do better. I haven't been here long, but I don't recall a time when the show's fanbase was so against the plucky tryer who's also kind of nice and funny and doesn't have the taint of ringerdom on him.

I don't really get it.

I think "charade" would be a better word than myth.

However I think you might be surprised how many people don't know that it's recorded the night before. I notice that on the Sunday results show, they never actually say "last night", they always say, "Saturday night". It always sounds a bit odd. If you were talking to somebody on a Sunday about something that happened the night before, you'd naturally say "last night", you wouldn't say "Saturday night". I suppose then they can't be accused of deliberately misleading the viewers, by saying "last night", when it isn't.

I agree the spotlight pauses are getting ridiculous, Judge Rinder's one seemed to go on for ages. There really is no need for it.

Can't wait for Ed's Jive!
I do wonder why they are giving him so many of the Latin's though?
Maybe they are saving Ballrooms up for the last few weeks so stop him being a showman and be boring so the public can quietly vote him out post Blackpool

Anita really got in the neck here in the dying weeks of the last series. As soon as we hit the halfway point people flipped from "likable trier" to "delusional narcissist who's lying, must be a trained dancer because her mum liked Indian dancing and isn't making any effort to improve." in about half a second.

It was so amusing, I was in the audience on Saturday and the warm up guy, mentioned he had a big secret to be told.... that in fact they do the recording tonight (being Saturday of course) to be shown on Sunday. Then when the recording of Sunday show...kept saying it was Sunday.... after queueing from 2.30 am ... I didnt even know what time/day it was!!! But yes, have noticed one or 2 celebs almost slip up
