Ed Balls - Should SCD Take Him More Seriously?

As has been said on other posts, Ed is actually improving every week.

Therefore are the producers being fair giving him "joke" music?

I throughly enjoyed tonight's performance, it was so entertaining but clearly giving him a song like Gangam sets the tone for an entertainment performance rather than a dance performance.

What do others think?

I agree with you - do he and Katya get any say in this or is it all decided by the producers?

no.

But not in the right order.

I enjoyed it too. I'd like to see the judges give him a little more credit. It wasn't an easy routine, there was no standing in the centre of the floor whilst Katya danced round him. He had a lot of footwork to remember and his timing was very good. When you compare it with some of his earlier latin dances, his improvement is clear. He got one of my votes.

But what's your opinion regarding ED?

Ed's good, he's got timing, he's improving, he's entertaining, but better dancers technically have already gone out of the competition.

His dancing isn't improving much, not from my view. I thought his lifts tonight where much better though.

Would he still be here if he was playing it straight. I somehow doubt it.

NO!

He has improved slightly with his ballroom but his latin is a complete disaster.

Tonight's "dance" is possibly one of the worst "Salsa's'" in SCD history...

I thought he was technically better last week. There was a fair bit of QS amongst the comedy and it was danced quite well. I think the fact it was a comedy dance doesn't mean it did not have content.

However I think the salsa was always going to be an iffy dance for him, as it is for most celebs, and so doing something entertaining was probably the best approach in this instance.

I hope they return to better content if they are around next week.

But is that because of the contestant or the music he was given to dance to?

Both.

The music was terrible for a Salsa obviously, but even the small amount of Salsa content that Ed did was done terribly.

He's run his course and it's time for him to go.

Though I fear we're stuck with him for more weeks yet...

Loving Ed - he is enthusiastic and tries very hard. I wish they wouldn't keep giving him "joke" music and let him try doing just the dance without all the mucking about. He is improving week on week and he gets my votes.

IMO he is a joke act and should have been out Weeks ago and as for Len giving him an 8 he should be ashamed of himself.

It is also an entertainment programme and he entertains me.

The show could not can't treat him any better. He is the most pimped celeb this series. In fact the show loves him more than Russell and Widdy together.

He's not taking himself seriously, why the producers should do so?

Rinder is slowly escaping the comedy act because he IS improving. Ed, not so much and is happy to carry on being the comedy act.

Not sure the first poster on this thread knows this but the "joke" music this week is the most viewed song in Youtube history.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZk...gl=GB&hl=en-GB

Over two billion views.

Hardly a joke song to most people that are aware of the song. Most listened to online song of the 21st century.

he was made the comedy act early on. But most of his dances contrive to be fun, can't knock it.

The dance tonight was fun. I was in tears of laughter. Actually he danced in time and the majority of it was reasonable. The joke, he's a former politician, is gone. It's just fun. Yes it's a dancing competition but firstly it's entertainment and Ed and Katia are very entertaining.

I agree entirely with you. Katya gave him plenty of dancing to do and she did not dance around him doing all the work herself.

His quickstep was very good last week and I was pleased that Craig gave him a 7 for that.
