It's clearly Kieran that carries the group. Reading up on him, he's the talented one. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go alone if they don't win.

They were in the wrong key, far too low for the initial soloist who was dreadful. I assume they chose that key such that the high parts of the song were in the range of the backing singers. Its not credible that the three could have sung the near falsetto part of the song, to switch from barely in tune intro to a reasonably sounding falsetto makes little sense. To cap it all, the judges could hardly hold back their praise and the audience seemed to go berserk for such an iffy effort.

backing tracks too loud - agree - for every act
5AM hardly sang

5 After Midnight are not good singers together at all. Saying this though, I think they're slightly better than One Direction were when they were on the show back then. One Direction were atrocious when they first got formed. So even though 5 After Midnight aren't good at singing together, they are slightly better than One Direction were back then.

Ryan's save song on the chorus had extra voices producing the harmony. Made it sound better than it was.

I agree with this.

It is embarrassing that these contestants don't have the balls to tell the singing coaches that a song is simply out of their vocal range - or is it embarrassing that the vocal coaches don't have the balls to tell the contestants that a song is simply out of their vocal range?

I don't know, but if your average audience member can pinpoint the problem, you have to ask why there is such determination to perform a particular song which a contestant is clearly struggling with.

I got it and I'm in my early twenties.

Kieran (going from what we've seen so far) is clearly the most accomplished singer of the three but, considering how much this forum was pro-Little Mix during their year, there's a lot of hypocrisy flying around. Neither Jesy nor Leigh-Anne were that great during the lives but they've all evolved since the show.

To be fair to myself I was never a Little Mix fan either, I liked two performances off them at the lives, the same as 5AM so far ironically.

In series 8 I liked the whole Girls category and Kitty the best.

I was a fan of LM but I was backing Marcus throughout the series. It was initially Amelia but she got dumped in the first live show.

Oh Marcus was okay, although the show had an issue with turning him into Olly Murs 2.0, but I did think that he had a good voice.

I actually miss that series when you compare it to this current one lol.

Yeah at the time the 2011 series was viewed as a dysfunctional mess but it's probably my favourite one overall (along with S5). The talent was so strong and diverse.

JLS were never 'JLS' (the way you mean it) .

If, by 5AM, people are talking about 'Boogie Wonderland', I agree, and I thought that loads of tracks from that era were like that, which is why I hated the genre...

Why are they called 5am when there is only 3 of them?

They should of called themselves 3AM, as in Three After Midnight.

Little Mix sounded better than 5 After Midnight do. A video below showing that they were. 3:48 on the counter when they're standing still at the end. They sounded very noticeably better in tune together when stood still.

^ Just to add that Jesy sounded okay in the video above. I actually thought you had said that Little Mix sounded just like 5 After Midnight do. Leigh-Anne was quite good at rapping in that video and sounded good.

This sounds banal, but it's exactly what I've been thinking
