I know that alot of people will say that it comes with the programme or whatever, but I'm sorry they went for Sam tonight for slowing the song down, yet didn't attack 5 After Midnight for out of tune vocals and miming in certain parts, praised Matt despite the fact that he just spent the song abusing his falsetto as usual, and said that Honey G is improving week on week on a technical level.

I know that people might have a preference for some of these acts that I've just given negative critique to, but from the judges perspective they are suppose to be more on how the acts actually sung their songs rather than what preference of Music that they like, and in no shape or form was some of these better than Sam, Ryan, or Saara tonight which some of them were getting hype like they were better.

Sam was actually the only one who sounded/performed a version of a disco song and made it sound current, which was surprising especially considering the song she sang. If she had performed it like it's normal sung then they would have called her karaoke. All the others actually were karaoke!!

Didnt they also criticise some acts for singing 'not disco' songs, only to give Honey G a standing ovation for talking in a flat voice over the instrumental of Stayin Alive???

To be honest the judges comments this series seem to be consistently miles away from the reality of the performance! This for me has set this series apart from any of the previous ones and not in a good way! Honest and genuine critique seems to have gone out of the window!

Big time. If Dannii Minogue has seen any of this series' live shows she must be drawn between pissing herself laughing and feeling embarrassed that she was ever a part of this pantomime.

Talking about unprofessional....I'm getting tired of Simon telling other judges to 'Shut up!' whenever they say anything that doesn't suit him. Just rude.
He's too defensive. The truth is both his acts sung poor slow, song choices, which were terrible ones to give them for disco week.

But you're talking about the style that it was sung in, which fair enough if you don't like the style then you're going to dislike the performance.

However you must admit surely that Sam despite the styling of the performance not being to your taste wasn't worse vocally than 5AM, Matt, Emily, and Honey G?

The judges are suppose to judge on the above and they failed to do their job.

I love how the judges say Honey manages to fit the theme every week That's because all she does is spout rubbish (in a flat voice) over a backing track/instrumental of the song. It's worse than Ray in S2 who seemed to turn every week in Swing Band week

But then why have themes if you aren't going to stick with them? Simon took Disco songs and 'un-discoed' them, if they insist on having themes then they should adhere to them.

Or better yet just scrap them all together and let the singers sing songs that really suit them.

Maybe they need more generic themes like Number Ones, Best of British or Songs from the 21st Century giving them a choice of pretty much anything they like?

I have noticed this more than ever this series. The judges are not being fair at all.

Whatever Honey G "tries" to sing is great and has no faults, but however good others are, like Sam and Matt tonight, there is some sort of criticism for them. It seems that the unbearable Honey G has some sort of hold over them. Have they been hypnotised by her huge glasses or something.

The same Dannii Minogue that spoke about a contestants alleged sexuality on live TV. Yes extremely professional.

The point of Disco night is like any night genre themed night and that's to sing a Disco song, but it doesn't have to be in a Disco way.

On a technical level this was Sam's best performance, yet the judges were too unprofessional to point this out, very poor form imo.

And by the way I understand the complaints with Emily as she didn't even sing a Disco song, it's a Pop ballad.

Surely Disco theme should be Disco, what is the point taking a Disco song and stripping the disco from it, it makes the themes pointless.

If they are going to insist of themes, which I hate and wish they'd get rid of completely, then they should at least adhere to them.

The show could've compromised and had Sam do an uptempo Rock number as she should be able to do an uptempo Rock number otherwise I would be concerned.

However if the singer isn't a Disco singer then I personally don't want them to get humiliated like Matt was tonight.

I agree it isn't fair making acts fit into these themes which is why I hate them and want them scrapped, but its still stupid to have themes like Disco/Motown etc and then not use those sounds in the music.

I don't mind someone changing up a song if it is a random artist theme week, as those themes aren't genre specific, but when you are stating it is Motown week then strip away everything that makes the song Motown, it can no longer be considered Motown imo. If they state they are having a genre specific week like Disco/Motown//R&B/Hip Hop etc then they should actually use those sounds in the performances, otherwise it is pointless.

The only professional thing a judge has done in the past 10 years is when Dannii sent home Jedward over Olly when they were in the B2, finally putting the novelty act to rest.

Yeah I just don't see why they even have them to just change it. I'd abolish them if it were up to me, I just don't see the point of making artists sing a dated genre like disco or Motown, styles none of them will ever release. I think for say rock, you could find something to suit pretty much any act, but disco and motown are a bit too specific and stylised. And when they just tweak any given theme to maudlin John Lewis advert song, that isn't the genre theme being adhered to anyway. I'd rather have more open themes like #1s, Best Of British etc.

I can never remember a time when the judges gave fair and honest critiques to all of the acts. In fact, constructive and honest criticism is very rare from any judge. Even when they had proper musicians like Gary Barlow, there was little improvement. Sharon, Louis and Simon simply do not know music and Nicole, even though she is a top notch singer, she still goes for silly American soundbite type comments rather than using her musical knowledge.

Compare this panel to an American Idol Panel where they all know their stuff. Someone like Harry Connick Jnr is incapable of not giving an honest critique. It is wonderful to hear - especially if you are a musician as I am - because they put into words everything that you are thinking. Louis, Sharon and Simon have absolutely nothing to offer musically - they always have been a joke.

Ask any Music expert that's not embroiled in all of the show's drama and they'll tell you the same, last night Sam did better than Matt without a shadow of a doubt.
