It's Obvious That Danny Will Win

Because he's the best dancer perhaps? Well, what's wrong with that?

Here we go again with the obvious winner thing. If its so obvious, why bother to carry on watching? He's good but so are Ore and Louise. Ed is the spanner in the works with Daisy, Greg being MOR. Rinder is another potential spanner so for Me, nothing is obvious or plain sailing. To put more of a buggeration factor in, AJ, for me, is making his mark on his debut...very open this series

It is so last year, but I am sure it will attract a number of other "anti-ringahs" crawling from every crack, now that we are half-way through the season and the competition tightens.”

What u said..

OOh I can answer that! Last year it was bloody obvious who the chosen one was, chosen by public popularity, not the show. However despite favouring another couple for winners I carried on watching because I liked watching several of the dancers (including him and his partner) and enjoyed the camaraderie of the contestants and other aspects of the show, I suppose that so long as my faves reach the final I'm not that bothered who wins TBH.

This year I don't really like any of them that much now, and I'm not avidly following every show so I'm not a good example for your question, but I suppose that if I liked say Kevin and Louise. I'd carrying on enjoying their journey and be hoping that I was wrong about public opinion. That's not my position though, perhaps having a clear favourite affects the habits of more casual viewers like me? I dunno,

The ideal situation for the show, if there is a strong favourite, is for there to be other, good credible contenders, which seems to be what they've got this year. So maybe that's why so many who don't favour Danny to win, keep watching.

I'm not convinced.
The voting public do like a journey (drink!) which explains the popularity of Ed, Greg and Rob Rinder.
Claudia and Daisy fall in the middle of nowhere.
The favourites of Ore, Louise and Danny haven't had The Journey, but are merely at a slightly more polished level than they started at.

I'm not trying to predict the winner, but I agree that Danny will most likely make the final, in which case I'd love to see him repeat his Halloween dance and get it right this time.

How much has he improved?
Very little IMHO.

Yes, I hope they do a repeat dance

I'm tending to agree that the marking is looking increasingly like Danny is, yes I'm going to say, here it comes, are you ready?......... The Chosen One.

Out of interest, why do you feel the marking is making him the chosen one rather than the likes of (for argument's sake) Ore or Louise?

I really don't think it's obvious Danny will win. He doesn't have a massive journey storyline which does matter to a lot of voters. Claudia and Rinder are improving every week and I could easily see one of them lifting the glitterball. Louise has a lot of support outside this forum because she's nice and a mum and very relatable. And though Ore has slipped the past couple of weeks, his jive was a standout moment and he's got a decent fan base (I believe his bottom two appearance was due to people assuming he was safe). Then there's Ed who really could win because he's entertaining and trying hard. Even Greg has a lot of public support, and Daisy could turn things around if she gets a good run of ballroom. I think the competition is still wide open and thank goodness; it makes the show a lot more enjoyable.

I thought Craig and Darcey's comments were spot on.

I was only surprised that Len didn't feel the same way, as this is usually something he picks up on.

It was still a pretty good dance... but the best AT for me was Simon and Kristina's from 2014. That will take a lot of beating - and Danny & Oti did not even come close to it.

Well, it's a matter of taste. I like Simon/Kristina's AT; however, I see more of Vincent and Flavia in Danny/Oti's performance than in Simon/Kristina's number, and I enjoy what I see.

I think Danny is most likely to win. I would be very surprised if he didn't make the final.

Yes, I'd like to see him repeat his Foxtrot and get the choreography right and maybe improve on some technical points.

I like his personality and I like his dancing a lot.. It is particularly good when he is dancing the faster, full on dances like the quickstep and jive. I have no problems with his AT being marked highly this week, but it was too frenetic for me (but that is just a matter of taste).

It was good... but I felt the same way as they did about it being kind of aggressive. If they toned that down a little, I'd have liked it better.

I doubt it. Denise Van Outen had to cope with it throughout the whole series. Mud sticks and if enough people keep repeating something, others will start to agree. This was I think, one of the reasons why she didn't win.

Danny on the other hand, hasn't had to deal with these type of comments. If anything, I think he's had an easy tide in terms of the comments on here. He's had a lot more positive comments than negative ones on here. This goes back to what I said about the "mud sticks comment". I'm not singling anyone out, but I wonder if the people that criticise the others saying things like Ore is faking his tears and has clearly had dance experience, are hoping that other people will believe them and go off that person and move on to their favourite.

I wasn't keen on Danny in early weeks. His persona was directly out of a PR machine - manufactured. He was saying what he thought (was told) needed to be said on a show like SCD to get votes from viewers. Not the only one Ore was worse! It really irritates the insincerity that is becoming the hallmark of these shows.

Having said all that I loved Oti and think she is a fabulous addition to show. Danny has also now settled down and we're seeing more below the veneer. Thing is some viewers like contrived so it may not help him but for me I like to see authentic warts and all.

He is a great dancer and I've given him a vote most weeks but he isn't my choice to win just yet!

I totally disagree.

If anything, the judges are harsher with him in comments and scores than with Louise and Ore.

I liked Mark and Karen's from a few years ago.

Can anyone explain to me why it would matter to the judges or the BBC who wins
Anyone claiming it's obvious that the judges are pushing one or other to win must know a good reason why it would actually matter to them

I was suspicious of Danny in the first weeks, like I usually am of overly handsome men (e.g. Gleb). My aversion is based on the fact that viewers often forgive them less than adequate performances for which other participants would be criticized.. The judges also favor young celebrities that look good on screen. It turns out that Danny is talented, learns fast and gives his all, and I admire it greatly (even though sometimes I am unhappy about his frame).
But Danny's not-so-secret weapon is Oti. I think she has blossomed this season. I love her challenging choreography and great dancing. I keep replaying the SCD professionals' "She Bangs" number with her. What an inspired choice of a soloist! Oti is a goddess there. (Only Natalie in a ballroom routine could match that).
So, if I could vote for a SCD professional to win this season, it would be Oti and only Oti who is such a great addition to the program.

To be honest, Ann, I find all his dances far too frenetic. A foxtrot, a quickstep, a rumba, etc - they're all danced with the same frenetic, OTT bash-n-dash. There seems a real lack of actual feel for the dance. No one could deny that he can move, and has the ability to learn choreography, but he needs to learn that sometimes less is more!

Would love Danny to win, he should win.

Oti is in another league when it comes to the choreography.

Absolutely stunning.

Maybe you don't see it because you don't like him, but I've seen loads of comments on here about how Danny is too trained, shouldn't be on the show etc. Any extra criticism Denise received was more because she and James weren't particularly warm and likeable. It could seem that the BIB is what you are trying to do with your OP - you feel Danny hasn't received enough ringer criticism so you start a thread about it, talking about him 'working in the West End' etc.., when he had a minor role and an understudy part in Les Mis and Wicked which are not known as big dance musicals.

I agree. I was hoping we would see some light and shade in his rumba but even that was frantic. I don't know if that is down to how Oti is choreographing everything though.

I'm not sure. Danny is obviously the Ringer this year and it's very rare that the ringer goes all the way to win.

He is probably favourite but I think The Judge and Claudia/AJ are both in with a shout (AJ is probably very popular with the voting demographic and might win it for Claudia with their show dance)

Don't think this is as clear cut for Danny Mac as last year was for Jay, for example...
