I'm not trying to predict the winner, but I agree that Danny will most likely make the final, in which case I'd love to see him repeat his Halloween dance and get it right this time.

I would rather the winner be the one who started not knowing how to dance , and has worked his way up , through trials and tribulations, to being a competent dancer

I'd be quite happy if Danny wins - he's an excellent dancer and performer, and that's really all I care about, especially in the final. I don't want a non-dancer to win, and none of the average dancers are in exciting enough pairings to make me not care if they won (whereas Chris Hollins had a magical partnership with Ola in an otherwise very boring year, so I didn't mind him winning). Plus I think Oti has been brilliant this year and would certainly deserve a win! Quote:
I think he could win but he has nowhere near the support of previous male winners.

Out of interest, why do you feel the marking is making him the chosen one rather than the likes of (for argument's sake) Ore or Louise?
I really don't think it's obvious Danny will win. He doesn't have a massive journey storyline which does matter to a lot of voters. Claudia and Rinder are improving every week and I could easily see one of them lifting the glitterball. Louise has a lot of support outside this forum because she's nice and a mum and very relatable. And though Ore has slipped the past couple of weeks, his jive was a standout moment and he's got a decent fan base (I believe his bottom two appearance was due to people assuming he was safe). Then there's Ed who really could win because he's entertaining and trying hard. Even Greg has a lot of public support, and Daisy could turn things around if she gets a good run of ballroom. I think the competition is still wide open and thank goodness; it makes the show a lot more enjoyable. He had one of the first rumbas of the year to get it out of the way. Three of the four judges start salivating every time his shirt is left open. They run out of superlatives every time he manages to put one foot in front of the other. The week he made an almighty mess of the dance they just shrugged their shoulders and gave him a mark near the top of the leader board. And some on the forum seem to think that Louise's pop career means she could dance. No one seems to mention that as an actor who's been to acting school, dance would have been a major part of his education. But that seems to be being ignored in favour of over exuberant praise for mediocrity. |

Please provide your source for this assertion - there's nothing to suggest Danny doesn't have support - he's never been in danger despite not always topping the leaderboard! I do think he's becoming increasingly popular as the show goes on and he's perceived as undermarked though. I'd be so happy for them if they won, especially Oti she's fab! But I don't think he's got it in the bag as OP suggests. |

Because he is being marked higher than other celebs than he deserves he got 1 less point for his AT than Louise did the previous week, every judge should have had Danny's AT at least a point lower..

There are only three I can see as contenders atm - Danny, Claudia and Judge Rinder. I really can't see Danny failing to make the final but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion he'll win. And Ed is the real wildcard
![]() Ore and Louise are very likely final candidates but I can't see either winning. Wouldn't rule them out entirely though. |

In fact, as Brendan noted in his column for Digital Spy, they always criticise and pick flaws in Danny's dances. Also the week he made "an almighty mess" of his dance, he was 7th out of 10; hardly near the top. |

danny is a great dancer and i really hope he is in the final. not sure he'll win though as the competition is quite high this year. my personal bet is currently on claudia who has been quietly getting better and better each week and will definitely give danny a run for his money. also hope to see louise and ore in the final too, so no certainty for a danny win.

Tbh I think they do that so as not to make a mockery of the competition. He started so far ahead of everyone else and hasn't really progressed but he has so much extra experience the others don't really have a hope of matching him in the given time. So the judges are marking him on different standards so he ddoesn't just end up top with 10s every week and make it all incredibly boring.

Same as Louis. Same as Jay. The judges know how the votes are going...and they're all going his way. He is overwhelming fave on FB. I have no doubt he's nailed this with the public.
In relation to the Facebook mention above, I've also noticed that each week on YouTube, his dance is always the one that gets one of the most, if not the most views. I can't understand why people think that there are others that stand a good chance of winning, when they clearly don't. |

A few years ago everyone was saying Susanna Reid was obviously going to win because she was favourite everywhere, then Abbey won out of nowhere. There are plenty of viewers who aren't on facebook or watching things on YouTube. I don't see why anyone thinks it's a certainty at this stage when only two of those left have been in the dance off.

Totally agree with with you Ellie - not that many of the scd demographic will be regulars on Facebook, and I don't know anyone who re-watches performances on YouTube.
Furthermore, I can't think of any previous winners who has had less of a journey than Danny - both Jay and Louis made huge improvements during their time on strictly. I don't think any will vote for Danny, simply based on the fact that he was very accomplished from day 1. I would go so far as to say he has little chance of winning - my money is in Claudia, who has already improved massively, and will have some great dances I've the next few weeks. All the youngsters seem to love AJ and Claudia, and they are the ones who will vote in droves come the final. |

I hope Danny does win.
His AT on Saturday should have been four 10s. I have no idea what he has to pull off for the judges to score him better. He is as good as any pro, i think he is the best dancer we have ever had on Strictly. |

I think Robert Rinder will win the show. Danny will come second or third. That's my prediction!

I think that if we have two polished dancers and a popular dancer then there is the possibility of another split decision and a Chris Hollins repeat.

Maybe you don't see it because you don't like him, but I've seen loads of comments on here about how Danny is too trained, shouldn't be on the show etc. Any extra criticism Denise received was more because she and James weren't particularly warm and likeable. It could seem that the BIB is what you are trying to do with your OP - you feel Danny hasn't received enough ringer criticism so you start a thread about it, talking about him 'working in the West End' etc.., when he had a minor role and an understudy part in Les Mis and Wicked which are not known as big dance musicals.

Perhaps because Danny hasn't claimed that his previous experience only consisted of "sitting on a chair".
It's not a foregone conclusion that Danny will win at all this year. I could just as easily see Ore, Claudia or Louise winning, even Ed at an outside shot if the public continue to support him through to the final. Quote:
She did talk about "sitting on a chair", but she didn't say that this was her only previous experience.
I didn't see the show when she was in it but as it's never happened with any of the other "big name" actresses taking the role, I doubt it did with her either. |

Susanna Reid was a Shoo-in for the win until Abbey got the Glitterball in a win which surprised everyone, apart from maybe the Producer

And with Ore, Claudia and Louise - I have posted several examples in this thread explaining why it is obvious that Danny will end up winning. Quote:
The point being made was that the role of Roxy Hart in Chicago doesn't involve only "sitting on a chair" but in fact contains plenty of extremely difficult Bob Fosse choreography so Denise's comment was quite somewhat misleading unless her claim was that the show's routines were utterly changed simply for her to play that part. No, the point that was made was that Muggsy's post was that Denise had said that her previous experience ONLY consisted of sitting on a chair, which reads that this all Denise Van Outen did in the show. But I pointed out that this wasn't the case as I found the original quote that proved that this wasn't what she said.
I didn't see the show when she was in it but as it's never happened with any of the other "big name" actresses taking the role, I doubt it did with her either. |
