It is time to face the music and dance! Borehamwood meets Broadway this week as the stars bring the show tunes to Strictly. The presenters and judges will kick things off by joining the professional dancers in a spectacular opening number as the curtain is raised on Musicals Week in the ballroom.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will then welcome the celebrities back to the floor, as the five remaining couples perform a host of dance routines from hit shows, in a bid to guarantee their spot in the competition as the final draws ever-nearer.

The remaining couples have been rehearsing all week hoping that the judges’ comments will be music to their ears. Judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli will be ready to critique the couples before the voting lines open and the public get their chance to save their favourite couple from the dance-off.

Meh just a re-hash of movie week.

Hope they don't have bloody back up dancers again.

I'm presuming only one routine each then and they're keeping two-dance for the semis as usual. Shame, I would have liked to have seen everyone dancing every genre (although it would mean A. Tango overload in the coming week).

Hopefully the production numbers are less ridiculously overblown than last year and they try to keep the backing dancers to a minimum.

Not again. Means we'll have a repeat of someone trying to dance to a ridiculously unsuitable song a la Helen last year.

since they'll only be 5 routines a very short show I'm guessing like 50 mins long since its usually an hour when 6 dance, anyway I love musicals week look forward to it, but I'm saying that maybe because generally I'm a big fan of musicals

As long as 'musicals' means 'musicals' not 'songs from Disney' or, even worse, songs from 'faded pop star rehashes greatest hits' shows. Don't get me wrong, some of those shows are great but to call them 'songs from musicals' really annoys me. Especially as it means the show doesn't look much different from any other week then.

Totally agree.

They should be dancing to songs from musicals, not songs that were shoehorned into a musical. So no Take That, Abba, Queen etc.

I'd actually love a Rogers and Hammerstein week

Good theme week. There's such a huge number of musical songs and many of them are so obviously theatrical that they can make reallt good routines.

Tbf, Disney films ARE musicals in a sense and many have become stage musicals too. Nothing wrong with that.

Things from Mama Mia and the like though? No.

Must admit I don't see the point of having the two themes when in Movie Week they use songs from musicals. Saying that this year most of the dances in Movie Week were from actual movies not musicals, and even those from musicals were musicals that were originally made as movies not on the stage. But then they ruined it by doing a Rogers&Hammerstein opening - should have been in Musicals Week!!!

One of the weeks, I thought that Claudia would make a great Dorothy from Wizard of Oz (assuming she's still in). Now I'm wondering if AJ would make a great cowardly lion with that mane

Yay, I love musicals week Pity they used a lot of decent musicals songs in movie week though!

Er...you do realise they are all actually musicals, right? It's not "Original Stage Productions Week", so it's never going to be all Les Mis, Phantom or Wicked, for example.

I can see argument against songs from jukebox musicals (though again, they are still musicals), but Disney films turned into stage shows have original scores rather than a host of pop songs, so I don't see why they shouldn't be used.
