Can't say that I share their sentiment. They can't truely think that was worth 4 tens.

Not sure if I would call it unprofessional, but it leaves a very sour taste. Don't remember them doing something similar for someone who's not related/connected to them. But then, I doubt anyone would see their chanting as an unbiased sentiment.”

The thing is, by saying that the person in second (by one point) was undermarked then it is kind of implicitly saying the the person in first place was overmarked. It's all right us here shooting the breeze and questioning scores, but when it's people actually involved it can come across as a bit of bad sportsmanship. A bit of good humoured sledging is all well and good but if it gets to be a habit, it might be time to stop.

If it is true then it is totally unprofessional of Joanne and Karen. Whatever they may think, they should not comment on their family members' performance in the professional environment. Leave it to the others (judges or dancers) and suspend your judgement until you are at home, ladies.

...or saying they felt that top position should have been shared? I don't think that undermines Danny's accomplishments at all.

I think that implication is probably reading too much into it. They were showing support for someone, and Louise being a person who clearly needs reassurance about her ability - I think that's all there is to it.

I think they probably realised it was a bit over the top when Claudia was doing her bit, so toned it down - but I honestly don't see the big deal.

This is a lot of NOTHING. Every week there are cries of 'undermarked' in bantery ways from the Clauditorium and no one has said anything.

Now, the girls were caught on camera, perhaps, but they weren't doing anything all the others haven't done.

It's because they're Cliftons perhaps, and this whole nasty and unfair anti Clifton bias is massively cheesing me off.

And I'm not a particular fan of any of them.

I...don't think it is. Saying Louise deserved a 10 isn't saying Danny deserved a 9.

Very true. Complimenting Louise or cheering her on isn't putting Danny or anyone else down.

I liked Joanne in her first series and thought she got a raw deal last year with being left out, but it's time for the Clifton's to go!!!

All three of them are very smug, unlikeable irritants. I'm sick of looking at them.

Thank goodness Will quit or all three of them would be on course to make the final. I can only hope we get an Ore vs. Louise showdown next week. Please, please, if there is a God, they'd make it happen. I'm foaming at the mouth just thinking about it.

The judges would be in tears, the producers would have a melt down, Karen will probably thump Claudia whilst screaming at the camera how unfair it all is.

Vile, the lot of 'em.

Ah, well - it does a bit to me. Probably wouldn't if they didn't have form for it but they do, so it did have an edge of gamesmanship (to me).

I rest my case re: my earlier posts.
What appalling, vitriolic, mean spirited, and vile nonsense that post is. One of the most disgusting loads of tripe I have had the misfortune to bear witness to.

Oh dear, the claws are still out for the Cliftons. What makes it alright to make comments under the cloak of Internet anonymity that I am sure most forum members would not dream of saying in the real world ?

I have read through several threads expressing adverse opinions about the Cliftons, which is of course perfectly acceptable, but the unpleasant nature of some comments about many of the celebrities and professionals seems even more nasty and widespread this year..

Yes , Joanne, Karen and others shouted undermarked, it had been done before this series and about other couples, I have seen other posts about it and didn't Zie Ball mention if had happened fior Daisy and Aljaz?

What is the matter with people ? I understand the partisan nature of support for couples, but it is just TV entertainment after all.
Enjoy it , don't keep looking for slights, insults, and favouritism. It's supposed to be fun .

I completely agree with Reserved and other posters.
This is really horrid and surely contravenes forum rules.
It certainly gives against any sort of good manners .
What ever have the Cliftons, whom many consider very talented , amusing and good sports, done to you personally?

Crying "overmarked" is not wrong if you express support of another dancer. It is utterly unprofessional and smacks of nepotism when cries "overmarked" and comments are in support of your family member, e.g. Ola commenting on James, Kenny Logan on Gabby, a Clifton on another Clifton. It is as simple as that.

I'm imagining Kevin Clifton as Steerpike. Deadly and manipulatively taking over Goremnghast aka the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Jo and Karen are Clarice and Cora Groan.

Agreed totally Brendan, Ali (unless it's anything to do with Janette) can say what they like about other contestants but if it's your own family or spouse then it's an issue.

It could only be nepotism if they were in any position to influence the actual outcome e.g if either of them were judges.

They're not.

In case you hadn't spotted it, they are actually competing AGAINST the other contestants... or at least Joanne is, as Karen's partner is no longer competing. On that basis they can support whoever they please and as far as i can see, all dancers and celebs appear to be extremely supportive of all the others. Any perceived family partiality is very much tongue in cheek.

The element of actual competition in Strictly is HUGELY overstated. It's only a certain stratum of the DS membership who are rabid hysterics and are unable to grasp that this is light entertainment "contest" which offers a tacky plastic sphere as a prize.

It's not the the Nobel Prize.

I can't for the life of me understand why people on here dislike the Cliftons so much? What have they actually done that is so bad, so horrible and so disgusting that they deserve this treatment?

People say that they get favoured and that Kevin only gets good dancers, (and he might be getting to his fourth Strictly final in a row). I'll bet that if he's on the show next year and he gets someone who isn't any good and/or leaves the show in the very early stages, people here wouldn't be saying, "it's more fair that he won't be making the final as it gives the others pros a chance". No, they'd be saying, "they've only given him someone that isn't very good to try and make out that they don't favour him, when it's so obvious they do". He can't win, no matter what he does.
