How does that make my observation flawed? By openly criticising the judges Joanne has shown a lack of respect for their opinion.”

Because she is a fellow competitor and just because Kevin is her brother, it does not cancel out the element of competition between them whilst they are still competing. Siblings DO support each other and just because they are brother and sister should not be a reason to condemn her for doing what is natural. It's no more unprofessional than supporting anyone else. Furthermore, she can have any opinion she likes on the judges' marks. It doesn't change anything, given that the marks are already announced.

Why do you people take this so seriously? It's supposed to be a bit of fun entertainment - and it actually does deliver this week after week, year after year. One of the things that make Strictly so successful and such fun is the banter and the camaraderie which exists between the pros, celebs and the rest of the crew.

You naysayers really do seem determined to try to spoil things with your carping pettiness over things which really do not matter one jot.

Just chill out and enjoy it for what it is.

Oh dear.
I have been a forum member since 2004; in the last 8 or 9 years I have mostly read, lurked and deleted comments I have been tempted to make in response to this sort of rubbish and of which I have thankfully thought better.
I should not have got drawn in to a futile discussion with people who are so blinkered and obsessive they genuinely seem to believe the ludicrous nonsense they commit to the view of the eWorld!

I do wonder though how some people watch a different show to the one I do.

It's great entertainment , don't take it so seriously.

Brendan
and other Pros have done this numerous times each series.

The Pros aren't Robots, they support their friends (that happen to also be their competitors).

It is not new to this series, there is no controversial story here.

Are you trying to say that an athlete cheering on another athlete is wrong? What about the spectators who come and watch the sports? Is it wrong for them to cheer on a particular athlete?

Where does it end? Is it wrong for the Strictly studio audience to cheer louder for one celeb than another?

^ I agree with the sentiment of post 126 but the reality is a lot of folk do take it seriously.
From moaning about running orders to allegations of judge favouritism to character assassination to arguments about overscoring, underscoring and perceived fairness of judge comments. From perceived unfair allocation of music to perceived unfairness in the order of dances done.
It just goes on and on remorselessly.

Pathetic to try and dismiss others' with language like that.

They should be professional about it though ... Jo and Karen's behavior during the final last year put me right off of them. They're obviously going to do the same this year. Tedious and detrimental.

Pardon?

I thought it was me agreeing with someone else's perceptions - not the other way around.

Is there something wrong with you, that you have to personalise things in this rather bizarre way? Really, I think you need to regain some sense of rational perspective and stop being quite so intense.

This is fluff - Saurday night light entertainment - not the War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague. Calm down.

Didn't think of it from the family perspective at the time.

Perhaps I am missing something. I see nothing of what is mentioned on this thread. I see no sour faces. Even if they have said something about being undermarked I suppose it is something people do when they dont school what they think they should. Nothing wrong with it.

There were definitely upset faces after Jay and Aliona won last year but.. consider who they beat. I didn't see any upset faces yesterday.

I'm not the most sports aware person. Just saw it in a tumblr link and shed a tear. That someone protested puts the Clifton moaning into perspective.

It was epic sportsmanship, I thought.

If you can manage to find the bit when Jay was declared the winner last year, you will see when the camera goes up to where the others are standing, two sour faces. It was probably due to their disappointment because Kevin and Kellie had higher scores in the final and they expected him to win.

Perfectly human and understandable. But then if they'd have been happy many here would say how fake and cheesy and twee they were to smile so fakily.

shrugs.

And with that you've actually hit the point that Clifton-haters seem to fail to comprehend/conveniently ignore. It was his wife and sister - his family, people who love and support him and are obviously going to be in his corner. How on earth people can't comprehend why they were supporting him I fail to understand, and even more so how anyone can think ill of people being supportive of a family member!

But then again a lot of people on this forum need no excuse to Clifton-bash, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised at the amount of hyperbole on this thread...

Jay and Aliona were definitely the best last year and deserved to win even if Kellie and Kevin done well in the final!

Why are all the pros and celebs all on the balcony after the dance, including the pros who have already been eliminated this year? They are there to cheer people on and provide a party atmosphere. That's exactly what Joanne and Karen were doing and if they went a little OTT then so what really? It's meant to be a silly party atmosphere.

Yes, everyone else is allowed to do that - but not the Cliftons apparently. Seems - according to some - that they are to be collectively vilified for every single thing any of them do ... or even anything that one of them might potentially think about doing at some as yet undetermined point in the future.

I don't villify them for EVERYTHING they do just this one. If you're a group that are all tied together by blood and marriage and you all shout 'under-marked' about one of the contestants one of you is partnering it makes you look like a bullying little cliche. I don't get why some find that so hard to understand.

You'd have to have had a seriously sheltered life to construe that as bullying...

Great post Liza . Pity they didn't shout 'overmarked', now that would be fun .
Jo and Kevin have a good chance of reaching the final . That is something I'd like to see .
