Eastenders Has had Some top Villians in The Past Dirty Den, Nasty Nick, Janine, Steve Owen, Archie and Michael Moon to name a few . However i feel the show has been lacking one for sometime. It would be brilliant if Sean O'Connor Cast somebody as the next Big Baddie. Secondly I wonder if Sean Could turn Max Branning into a Full on Villian?.

Steven has redeeming features though, I like Steven but feel the Show needs a top notch Villan/Bitch again

I agree with this, it's all too nicey-nicey at the moment. Bring some drama back!

A good villain always has some redeeming features, though. Steven is perfect for it IMO as he has the looks and charisma but also the history on the show that would make us understand the psychology behind his actions. I don't class him as a villain yet by any stretch of the imagination but I think if he sticks around he could develop into the role.

Wont happen because villains tend to be interesting and cause drama, two things SOC doesn't like.

Could Eastenders not temp Robert Kazinsky back as Sean? With Stacey in the square he has a constant link to the show.

Virtually all the characters are villainous in one way or another. However, I agree there are none that stand out right now who you can love to hate - with the possible exceptions of Phil and these days Ronnie.

Villains need to have a charm about them or vulnerabilities in order for the audience to love to hate them, or care about them. The magic about Janine was that we knew how she ticked, she had charm and could be both amusing and tragic. Ronnie is the only one that even comes close to this.

Eastenders are lacking characters with an edge, most of them are too one dimensional.

Its obviously not the direction that SOC wants for the show.

I think EE is going to go through spells like this. Its pretty obvious in the tone from the outset since SOC took over, that it is going down the love and warmth, everyday struggles type show, that we had under LN. Some say this is EE at its roots, I'm not so sure myself, but if it is then its going to be very much a love/hate type relationship that viewers are going to feel.

I bet once SOC goes, and that maybe sooner rather than later, EE will revert to a more dramatic soap again on a par with ED. I think striking a balance between the two just seems something that most directors lack the ability to achieve.

That's the problem. Nearly all of the characters have done something so appalling that no normal person would do that villains lose thier impact.

Maybe Max will take Abi under his wing and they can plot together. She's definitely got a sneaky streak to her. Babe has calmed down now and is mostly boring, her role is to give snide remarks that she pretends to not know were insults.

There will never be another credible villain or 'hard-case' on the show again whilst the ancient yellow Weeble is still in the square.

With the exception of Den - the Philth easily 'owned' all of the above at one time or another and many more besides (Dan, Dennis, Jase, Andrew, Johnny, Conner, Sean and various other briefly seen gangsters and loan sharks - the list is almost endless).

It's utterly preposterous.

Blame TPTB for that.

Steve Owen should have been the one to kill King Potato and put him out of my misery for good.

Spot on. Phil is the only villain we're allowed to have and he stopped having a likeable side in the '90s. I suppose Ben could be a villain in training but he, nor anyone else, will be allowed to get the better of Phil while he draws breath.

Max Branning could turn up as a Villain as spending time inside and thinking about revenge must have changed him
