I think he's a great pro and choreographs well for his celebs and looks after them whilst pushing them. He is sooooo much better with the quiet ones who temper his enthusiasm.

Well, Anton has to retire at some point and Brendan seems to be losing interest rapidly, so someone will have to step up to the plate!
Kevin and Pasha look the most likely male pros to take over gentle guidance with the occasional nice surprise duties. Pasha has already started down that road (Carol last year). |

Each season he manages to bring the best out of his celeb, make their time on the show wonderful, and brings out their confidence. He works with all kinds of personalities well. In addition to getting Kevin as their pro, they get a built in support system with Karen and Joanne. His celebs truly become life long friends with him and his crew.
This thread is not aimed as a knock down on other pros, I think they're all great. I just wanted to start a positive thread about Kevin. Quote:
Do you know, I think one of his strengths is that he isn't 'sexy' and so he is able to put his partners at ease. Plus the presence of Karen means more reserved partners like Louise and Frankie can relax and develop.

I like Kevin . His choreography is never dull or boring .
Also , I like the fact that he doesn't rely on his good looks , because while he looks 'nice' he is not devastatingly handsome . So no flirting to camera and posing prettily from him , which leaves him free to focus on his partner and lets him be more of a pal/big brother rather than a potential love interest . (yes I know he's married but crap happens.Kristinacoughcough) . |

He is an excellent dancer and I am glad he toned it down a bit this year, previous years he has been a bit OTT for my liking, but when he joined he was a breath of fresh air which was much needed.
but his performance as a dancer nowhere near as good as the best pro's, top half the problem lacks consistant shape in particular on his left side |

Half of me is really keen for Kevin to win this year, just so I can see how he manages with Jo Brand next year.
I was going to say Mary Berry, but she'd get to the final just by walking down the stairs every week! There would be no half baked dances and if she got to the final you can bet that her show dance would be the icing on the cake. |

I think that Kevin is a really good teacher, to the extent that I doubt his detractors will ever accept that he's been given a 'duffer', because he'd probably get even the most un-handy celeb to at least week three or four!

How are you related to the Cliftons, OP? He genuinely makes my teeth itch - they all do. Fake humility, fake niceness, always have to be the centre of attention. No thanks.

I like Kevin. I do think it's unfair to the other pros because of the number of good dancers he's had.

You'd think a fun, entertaining show like Strictly would get viewers into more positive mood. |

Well seeing as he is very irritating and spotlight-stealing, I'm amazed anyone actually likes him. I'll just toddle back off to the "Not Appreciation" thread where we're allowed to dislike things.

There is very little about him to dislike and he is no worse than some of the other pros. |

he always seems to get the best out of his partners and gets them to their full potential and doesn't seem to mess about and cover things up with them

Bib that's debatable
I've seen hoggers, pros acting like they've eaten twenty chocolate bars. Almost anyone I discuss SCD with, in the real world, thinks he's great. He's not my favourite pro and while I disliked him and Kellie as a partnership I don't find much to dislike about him personally. |

Which is exactly what we are doing.

He may be a decent coach but I'd like to have seen him given someone like Judy Murray or ann Widdecombe to see just how good he is. He has never been given a poor dancer. |
