As someone who has regularly needed to have my ears syringed due to a build up of wax, I can tell you that absolutely no way would Eileen have gone to the doctor's surgery and come straight out having had her ears syringed.

You need to apply warm olive oil drops to the affected ears for at least five days to soften the wax before they're syringed, otherwise the process just won't work.

The medical advisor must have been away at the time they were filming this sequence!

Some health centres use a different method than syringeing. A friend of mi9ne asked at5 his work for time off to get his ears done. He was sent to the company nurse who cleared them right away and said "Is your doctor still using that antiquated method?"

I'm afraid so, and her ear wax is really getting on my wick.

I always thought ears dealt with their own wax. Do people really need to have it removed? ( well, you do apparently, OP )
Is this a common thing? Why do some peoples ears build up an excess of wax?

Just popped by to confirm that Corrie is still pulling off the dramatic storylines. Good one, boys.

I'm glad Corrie have finally found a long running character arc to rival the Richard Hillman saga.

Yes so unrealistic! I've had mine done a good few times and last time I waited 5 weeks for the appointment with the nurse to have it done. Our doctors will diagnose that you need syringing, but the nurse is the one who does it. Now I know what it is, I just make an appointment with the nurse but yes you have to do the oil or drops for at least 5 days.

I've had my ears syringed a few times and I've never used drops beforehand

This is a rerun of an EastEnders story where Arthur's ears were blocked with wax, and he was scared to be shown a large surringe!

Wonder what odds you would have got at the beginning of the year that there would be a thread during 2016 entitled 'Eileen's ear wax!!'

Sorry to inform you of very sad news but the s/l is over.

Any speculation that it might involve anything deep and meaningful was pointless.

Syringing is gradually being phased out, replaced with microsuction.

Aha......wait up now.......a flash of unexpected inspiration has hit........maybe this gripping storyline has something to do with finding out what is happening with Phelan......Maybe her superhuman powers of hearing might be channelled towards overhearing a telephone conversation etc. divulging his machiavellian plans to scarper with his ill gotten gains......hmmmm.....

Yes I actually think this is where the storyline is heading too with Eileen's new super hearing abilities unlocked.

Yes, because Vinny doesn't know her ears are fixed, and might speak of the scam in her hearing, thinking she is still deaf.
