A Good exit for Emily
All this time she's actually been staying with Freda - she made up the whole Peru thing up as she noticed everyone in the street was only interested in themselves and their dramas - even Rita and Norris had stopped being interested. She returns for one episode to let the cat out of the bag (in the Rovers of course)
"Did you really think I would travel to PERU??? to build a school???.....I mean - this is boring old Emily after all - all she does is work in charity shops and visits people in hospital....Freda had fallen ill, she wanted some help.....I mentioned it to you Rita and you Norris - not the slightest interest from either of you - I barely got a reply before you changed the subject YET AGAIN.......SO with the help of Geoffrey - we hatched this little prank - expecting you to find it funny - I enjoyed having some attention for a change. I was going to tell you after a week or 2 - but then the emails were fewer and far between interest in my school construction - well you got tired of that too......" etc etc - she then informs everyone she's moving in with Freda for good and would very much like to never hear from them again. EXIT. Emily gets the last laugh and leaves them all mouth agaped |

Roll credits. Then we see a wide panning shot of Emily taking one last wistful look at the street, sherry in hand. Paddington Bear pulls up in a Porsche, opening the passenger door for her. She looks into the camera and winks... |

I feel like emailing them - I really think it'll be a fitting exit to the so called meek and mild Emily - but we all know she's the opposite

Yeah I think so, but Edna was said to have gone to a friend or a relative to look after her but really it was her that was terminally ill.

In reality we'll probably get an 'Emily is coming home next week' storyline with bunting, balloons and a buffet in the Rovers only for Spider to turn up instead telling us that Emily passed away on the plane on the way home.

I know Eileen is VERY private but she doesn't strike me as someone that doesn't care about Emily to not give her an exit. Most actors that play an part for any amount of time always says they become intertwined with the character. Her not caring enough means she's been treading water for 50 years and I just can't see it.
I think something has happened whilst she has been off and that's why there is no real news and things are being held open |

The way things are going, Norris will be arrested for murdering Emily, if no one has heard from her for a couple of days.

Emily got a decent ending, except for the Woman Ken Barlow was seeing at the end of last year, Zelda, or whatever her name was, being involved

There should be a high long-shot panning scene in the high street looking down on her( I know! CS on location lol !) Where we see Emily come out of Debenhams carrying a bag- then; suddenly! As people walk past her, she gives a grimace....and * crash!* falls into the ground.
The camera pulls back and we see a bus approaching the stop in front of the department store; people grouped round her.... and the spilled bag on the pavement... End credits; no music.

....Or we see her shuffling into the kitchen to put the potatoes on ; the gas knob is already turned on - as she strikes a match to light the ring.....
* bang!* Cue long shot of CS slum collapsing into the street with smoke and a barking dog. Anna can be wobbling past at the time and can be seen after, crying, on the road with her crutches blown away |

If it was up to me I'd have Emily fall down the stairs and choke on her own vomit with Mary looking on in sheer excitement taking snap shots of her last breath hoping to sell it to some gore porn website.
I've never liked Emily. Her snooty attitude and her continual looking down on others, particularly Norris (add Rita & Bette too), was just so tiresome. She moaned and moaned about Norris living with her for years yet she secretly loved him and loved having him around. She was always a self important character that thought so highly of herself. Well Emily hun, you still crap like the rest of us so lose the sh&t doesn't stink attitude please. Haven't missed Emily one bit and if she doesn't return at least she got a good send off, more than she deserved. |
