For most people this will equate to the existing thread on the first album you bought as a kid.

Why would I say 'have it'?

Single: Save Me ~ Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich

Album: Atom Heart Mother ~ Pink Floyd

I still have the single in a box somewhere.

The album I sold to a dealer in 1988. Have it on CD in various formats.

Would have been sometime in the summer of 2008, I got my first record player in September that year and had already started browsing around the charity shops (which in those days were practically giving them away for about 20p each) to build a collection. Probably an old Now album.

I'd inherited a few from my parents and grandparents too, my grandma kept her player as her main source of music listening until it broke in 2003!

Does Rock Around The Clock on 10 inch 78 rpm shellac count? Otherwise, probably Apache by The Shadows.

A synthesizer rework album of Star Wars in 1978 (it was awful ! I wanted the proper John Williams score!) and a year later, Abbas Greatest Hits Vol 2, which blew my mind and which I danced like a dervish to, in my mums lounge when no-one was around!

I didn't start buying singles until a few years later.

If the music that I want is out there on CD, then yes, that is the format that I prefer to go with.

God bless you always!!!

I grew up with CD's and Cassettes so I'm part of the Vinyl revival.

My first Vinyl was and just had to be Kate Bush- Hounds of Love. I bought it second hand, almost mint from a market and it still had the old 1985 insert where you could order merchandise etc. Still treasure it.

Ignoring the mixture of kiddies music that was bought for me.

I think the first singles I bought was Ian Dury and his Rhythm Stick number 1 hit.

Then the Tom Robinson Band with one of their early singles.

Not sure about the LPs probably some post punk - new wave band though. All my vinyl stuff is safely kept in a big record box.
