Adam Thomas is
Spoiler
(probably not a spoiler for most, but just in case) so will likely be off screen for over a month at least, if not more. Emmerdale said that they were filming Christmas Day last week, so it's likely that his departure will be around Christmas time. Any theories on how he will be written out? A breakdown perhaps? Or maybe he'll just go away to support Hannah?

Maybe they'll just refer to him as somewhere off-screen trying to get Victoria pregnant

Maybe they filmed scenes with him in for the time he is away. That way the character of Adam can be in it the whole time the actor Adam is away.

Yes, OP, Adam Thomas signing up for I'm A Celeb is hardly a secret.

Adam Barton might just fall out with Victoria when he realises that he doesn't want to have a kid after all, then go off to visit Hannah.

How long he's away will maybe depend on how long before he's kicked out.

I'm not sure he'll necessarily need one.
Adam is the kind of character that falls into the background quite easily and can be off screen without anybody noticing.

Only because he mostly pops up only when absolutely necessary rather than in everyday episodes.

I realise that it's not a 'secret', as I said in the OP it was just in case there was anyone out there trying to avoid spoilers. As I'm sure you have seen on the forum before, there's always one that complains that they didn't want to know!

I'd imagine that he'll have a fixed holiday regardless, bearing in mind that episodes will have been written months in advance

Perhaps, or maybe to visit his sister Hannah or something. On another note, they should've brought Hannah back for Holly's funeral, it's ridiculous that she didn't turn up. Can't remember what the excuse was, probably something stupid though.

They don't need a storyline to explain his absence.

They don't even need to mention him at all - he can just not be included in any storylines. I'm sure nobody would notice for a month.

I'm not sure, it depends on how long he takes off. Of course, they're only in the jungle for three weeks, but I'd imagine that they'd take a few extra weeks holiday either side of that as well, particularly afterwards. For instance, when Lucy Pargeter (Chas) went in she was off screen for over 2 months, can't remember how she was written out though.

Farmer Ben, I think there might be a thread http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...2187874&page=2

I will be on my best behaviour now so you can't get me back 😇😇😇😇

I think we will see Ross go soon and then mabybe when he returns he will drive Adam away.

Tho who exactly is going to run the farm?

Even for two or three months I don't think it matters. They can easily concentrate storylines on other characters and he can just be referred to now and again.

To be fair they could make him man the sausage factory and not be seen for weeks.

Someone said Lucy went to France to visit Aaron.. er not Lucy obvs Chas

She was written out as having gone to stay with Aaron in France - always a popular destination when explaining character absences! But her situation was a bit different as she runs the pub, so her not being around for weeks on end is more noticeable. Adam doesn't really need an exit as he regularly disappears for weeks at a time without comment. Although him not being around to support Moira through her first post-Holly Christmas will be a bit odd.

5 - 6 weeks or so, maybe, but once it gets longer than that and the audience start to notice. It's a different show I know, but over on EastEnders Masood was written out for 2 weeks prior to him returning for his exit, and he said in an interview that the writers wrote him out for the 2 weeks with the reason being 'viewers would notice that he wasn't on screen' and that was just for 2 weeks!

Inevitably some sort of family function/situation etc where Adam should be seen would come up in those 2/3 months and it would look odd unless his absence is explained, but anyway we'll see what they do

Only if the storywriters include one somewhere.

You are probably right though that they WILL write him out somehow - they usually do.
I just don't personally think it's necessary.

Yeah, I think they will. I agree with you it's probably not necessary if it's for a short time

Adam should just disappear and Victoria, Moira & Aaron should get all hot and bothered about it, calling the police and everything. Then they should all start to watch I'm a Celebrity on the telly in the Woolie and shock, horror, there he'll be. There'll be lots of shouts of 'just you wait until I get my hands on him' from all and sundry.
