Samsung - External HDD Question
Hi all
I've just purchased a Samsung KS7500 TV. I am trying to ascertain what HDD capacity I can use, but the manual is somewhat less than vague. I am currently using a Hitachi 1TB from the USB slot on the TV and this works very well. However, because my material is 4K the Hitachi is nearly full so I want to get another, bigger drive. So my question is: What size can I go to? I would prefer 3 or 4 tb, but I have read reports that indicate the TV doesn't recognize them. Doe anybody have experience with Samsung and large HDDs? Also what should the new drive be formatted to, NTFS or FAT32? Any help gratefully received Thanks in advance |

I can't help you on the maximum size, but TV's format the drive themselves, and it's NOT a PC format either - it's usually a Linux format.
You can format as either if you are just reading from it. I use NTFS mainly on a Maxtor 2TB drive but it will read both. |

That's only if you are using it to record onto from the TV's freeview or freesat tuner.

As far as I know, no tv can record 4k material to HD from the Freesat or Freeview tuner.

Thank you, both.
My hobby is making garden videos, and these are recorded in 4K. I need the HDD to view the finished film on my TVS. For the moment I am happy to use the Humax for recording. |
