Not sure if this is still on the BBC red button channel but am quite enjoying this, recorded at the Hackney Empire last week.

For some reason I always had the impression that Jim Kerr was a bit of a knob, but he seems a genuinely nice guy from the interview before the concert.

He probably was a bit of a knob in the late 80's. I like him now too.

I actually got to talk to him briefly before a gig I was reviewing in the 1980s for ZigZag and honestly he was great.

Don't think the Simple Minds sound adapts well to acoustic arrangements. They'll be plugging back in next year (40th anniversary coming up).

It's surprising how well these songs work re-imagined as acoustic songs.
I think it gives the songs a new lease of life.

I would say Cherisse is a brilliant drummer and gorgeous.....
The album is brilliant. U2 keep threatening to do a stripped back tour but never seem to get around to it. Simple Minds always reminded me of U2 in the 1980s and they suggest the possibility of what an arena band sound like stripped back. The music sounds really soulful at times. A deserved return to greatness.

I knew I'd seen that name and face before. I saw her on Jools Holland with Bryan Ferry. Great drummer!
