big bang theory

Seriously we all heard how Emily sounded last night, 5AM mimed, and Honey G yet this is the bottom two? I thought that both did okay in the sing-off, but seriously this is another Lauren Murray vs 4th Impact moment all over again where two acts came out fighting on the Saturday and bested all of the frontrunners who were all off form (and not for the first time either) and still got punished in the vote for it.

Saara is a Diva act which is really cliched nowadays, but at least she's a good one which I can actually say that, and if Ryan carries on improving then I'll champion him on aswell.

But yeah the fact that both Sam and Ryan was in the bottom two when Emily has been awful for the past two weeks is wrong imo.

Ryan will leave next week, Saara the week after, Emily next and the final will be Honey G, 5AM and Matt.

5AM will come third, then Matt will beat Honey G and become our winner.

He will release one single and fade away because he just isn't very good.

Just enjoy the ride (if you can).

I've never trusted the public in these things. My favourites always go far too early.
Blandism rules, it seems.

Ever since Michael Johns outrageous elimination in American Idol, I have felt robbed of decent singers in favour of weak links ever since.

First we had Brexit, then Trump and now...the X Factor. Gee talk about a comparison.

Don't you think it's a bit dramatic? Barely any of the public watch this thing anymore anyway.

They are all just reality TV fodder and the one that ends up the "winner" gets a few quid, goes into the pop manufacture factory and makes a few more quid. It's hardly anything to get exercised about.

The only alternative to the public vote is to let Simon just pick the winner at the beginning (I know he does his best to achieve that anyway).

It would free up a lot of Saturday evenings.

Yeah, was gonna say. I think we'd established that when Trump was made president elect.

Good point made by the OP, if the public could be trusted Sam would have been out weeks ago.. ....

Nah cant really complain at the bottom 2, you could argue 5am/emily could have replaced Sam but Sam and Ryan aren't good enough as the sing off showed. Personally I think Ryan should have gone but he will go next week anyway so it doesn't matter that much.

5am aren't good enough either, how they keep getting through is beyond me.

Well we have had brexit, so anything is possible on this show, Honey G still in the competition? seriously?

It's a singing competition.

Sam was second only to Saara last night, and Ryan could've interchanged with Matt behind them. The rest were pants, so ability doesn't really come into the equation any more.

Doesn't mean that he we always get it right either, look at the evidence tonight, Oly Murs came runner up to Joe McElderry. Joe McElderry was the preferred winner given a Disney song was the winners song that year. Yet look at them both now.

I don't agree, Sam has a really good voice but Simon has given her so many crap songs that are way too old for her tender age of 17! I think Honey G, Ryan and Saraa should have gone before Sam. I think she should have been 3rd or 4th this year!!!

No wonder the ratings of X factor have dropped so drastically. To think that I use to love this show!

I thought Sam shouted her way through songs and tonight she was out of tune in places

I'm not for a moment suggesting the public gets it right, just that there isn't a practical alternative way of deciding the winner of the show.

Or were you saying Cowell didn't get it right that year?

"Getting it right" is totally subjective anyway, unless you measure it in terms of financial success. Taking your example, Olly Murs is a likeable grinning buffoon who appeals to prepubescent girls, and it's given him a career, but Joe McElderry is a far better singer. Which was the "right" choice? I don't claim to know.

Sam destroyed no more drama and for that reason alone she should've went!! She butchered a rnb soul track sung by a very competent rnb singer - why choose that song it was so not suited! It was also obvious Simon wasn't really feeling her either he admitted there was no connection ie he had no idea how to market her! She can't sing very well atm, it's tuneless noise - she's deffo not for the XF pop bracket

I was referring to the fact that the show is totally inconsequential. "The public cannot be trusted" is taking things a bit dramatic.

Well what I used to love about this show is that they'd take an act like Sam who has potential but is just not guiding herself properly, and actually get her in the right direction.

The only act I've seen them start to do that with this series and it's took them until he did his week 3 performance to know where he lies and that's Ryan, which I'm happy for him on that front as it stops the embarrassing boyband routines, but he had nowhere near the potential that Sam had.

I'm confused as to how you can assume 5AM were miming (which they were), but that Ryan is improving. Ryan's last two performances had blatant miming and drowning out on the backing tracks. There were several instances in both performances where the microphone was nowhere near his mouth, and yet there was no discernible difference.

Just watch Saturday's performance. He sings literally none of the hard parts. I presume they just mute him for them and let the backing singers do his job. He has not improved, they're just better at hiding his mediocrity.

They're all having mimed segments this year, including whoever your favourite is and my favourite, and Ryan, however I have not seen anyone mime 95% of the song like 5AM did this week since Fleur East, I know it's only two series ago but it's took until week 6 for it to reach this level for me and 5AM definitely repeated her formula.

They are and it's ridiculous to believe otherwise. After the ITV voting scandal nearly a decade ago, do you really think they'd risk it a second time?

Sam wasn't perfect, but there actually was a vocal there, there are actually songs that I can think for her to sing that she would actually sing WELL! Name one song that you think 5AM, Honey G, or Matt would sing really well? I honestly can't think of any.

The producers will have chosen it for her. Unless you meant why did they choose it for her.
