Sadly I couldn't raise any particular interest in any of the characters. Not a patch on the series set in a village "up north", which had several storylines going with numerous characters. Can't wait for Series 3 of that one.

Well apparently he did because it was Christmas 1943 that we saw!
Yes, my mistake........1943 !!

If the mother had been saying 'Goodbye' to the Captain - the son would never have known !! I guess that she left her family... and, subsequently, became a Stranger to them.

Too Mills and Boon for me. Won't be watching again.
I have to say I could not agree more. Personally I chose not to watch this then I was away at Christmas so had to sit through 2 episodes.

My review blond American clearly English. Hattie Morahan far too good for this unoriginal drama. I have seen this story so many times. Soldier/bored housewife, boring husband and peppered with minor villains and domestic abuse in a small village and yes you've seen it all before too. Best thing about it Hattie Morahan. Worst things about it everything else. Maybe pensioners would enjoy this but I can not think of too many more.

Definitely a bit twee and I never was one for Sunday night boring TV like Heartbeat and Bally something or other but definitely in that tradition.

Agreed and Peter Moffat did a great job and shame it was axed. John Simm was excellent.
