Winkleman can't go much beyond the autocue either she pulls more faces and get's fed more crap jokes but more talented no, her record suggests otherwise. Anyone who heard her horror on the Radio would be aware how limited she is away from such a controlled show.
Despite all the advantage she had she was a non-entity in real terms for 15 years both of them are stealing a living from the tv taxpayer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudia_Winkleman She's managed to get a bit "further than the auto-cue." |

I cant stand either of them, the show needs to go back to basics and refresh the presenters

That's an over-used word and non-applicable in the case of Strictly. The show only needs "introducers," Which was proved once they finally got rid of the "I made the show my own, " old codger. Introducers is what it's got. "Presenters" are there to sell a programme (in some they need three, or the name of the presenter in the title), this show doesn't need selling, it's already been sold. The ratings prove it. It has its own momentum. |

Most of it is fair comment. No need for vitriolic comments about them.
The problem for many, as I mentioned weeks ago, Tess in some ways is morphing into Brucie, as he was in his last couple of seasons, not as he was in his prime. |

Yes but Cow changed for the worse most of the time and didn't apply the strict BBC control, it is hard to see how a top class presenter or two could not improve this show.
"The next couple is: Louise and Kevin.... but first a song!" Well done Louise and Kevin, "Len, before you give your comments, I must tell you a funny story." "Now before the next couple I'm going to tap dance whilst I play the piano." I can't see it, can you? |

There is plenty that can be done a few jokes, a bit of piss-taking there is scope for the right people to take it on, like Forsyth in his prime if you like.
I know, if the BBC got someone really good say like, Graham Norton, who those who watch his shows think he's fantastic, they could cut right down on the dancing, or even get rid of it completely. Tess and Claudia's bits are mostly "filling" while the band, the lighting technicians, props, etc., and the contestants prepare for the next dance. Why pay more for filling? |

It's all a distraction from the dancing, the main reason some of us watch the show. There's enough faffing about already, more every year.

I'm not a huge fan of Tess. But it's great to see a female presenting team. I see Tess as the Ernie Wise and Claudia as the Eric Morecambe. At their best it's like seeming a couple of mates messing around, with Tess as the slightly bossy 'big sisterly' one.

I cannot believe that in your years of viewing you have not see proper professional hosts in action. Did Wogan pass you by?

It isn't filling. It's providing the show with its personality which at the moment is lacking. The three sections need to work in harmony and the hosts are the weak link at the moment. Of course they don't need to cut down on the dancing. What they need to 'cut down on' is woodentop Tess, desperate Claudia and the producers banale attempts to turn things like the terms and conditions into gags. Shows how desperate they are.
ITV will have to come up with something spectacular before the BBC throw any more money at Strictly. |

For primetime tv programmes in competition with others, ratings very much do matter as its the name of the game. I think for that reason alone at the moment, the SCD producers wont change things whilst theyre pulling the audiences in. Why would they take a chance, certainly given that primetime and, more pointedly perhaps, presenters comfortable with the live medium aren't exactly in abundance.

There's no poor Tess about it. She must laugh all the way to the bank. Bruce's age and the political climate meant she was in the right place at the right time. They must know there's a big hole in the show where a great host should be, but they lack the guts to do anything about it
I mentioned in another thread the difference between Tess on Strictly and Tom Bergeron on DWTS. They are polar opposites when it comes to hosts. Tom is a well oiled machine compared to Tess and Strictly really needs someone of that experience at the helm. I will say she did ok being Bruce's partner in crime, she kept him on the straight and narrow to some degree, but now she has the top job she seems to be turning into a female Brucie more and more each series. |

Tess is a fantastic presenter it's a difficult show to host, up to two hours twenty minutes then recording if a results show. She has an earpiece with editors instructions, and random things happening, celebrities talking longer etc.
I think the robotic comments are rude, and unless anyone here has hosted a live show for two hours are not legitimate. If anyone watches she is often running on and off the set. She has not morphed into Bruce, he did comedy, Claudia has taken this over. Some here have had a go at Tess, Len, Bruce etc, in fact anyone who is associated with SCD, but it tops the ratings so they are doing a lot right. People posting should remember she is a human being and has a life, and forget Newszoids parodies. . |

Nothing on here has been really "rude," they are personal observations, it just makes me smile when some on here "get all sensitive" on behalf of someone on the telly, who wouldn't know them from Adam and probably couldn't care less about them. If another poster gets "personal" about you, that's the time when you can complain. People on TV expect some viewers to not like them, it goes with the territory. |
