Britney
Vogue
Bee Gees
Elvis
Rhythm Nation
Hairspray jive
Bad
Try - Pink
Austin Powers
The Mask
Nasty
Jai Ho
Footloose jive

and...NSync's Bye Bye Bye

What's more, we have Dance dance dance in German and it has passed me by.

They have used week one
Grease
Beat It
JLo
NSync
Wannabe
Uptown Funk
Vogue
Burlesque
Timbersnake
Umbrella
Getting Jiggy
BeeGees

So I guess it really is replicate the music video, right?

In which case whoever does Love Is A Battlefield will get my vote.”

This is what went through my mind. have been sitting trying to think of as many iconic couples or solo dances as I could and managed fewer than 20

Dirty Dancing
Flash Dance
Shall We Dance
Antonio Banderas and Katya Virshilas Argentine Tango
John Travoltas hustle from SNF
Several numbers by Fred and Ginger/ Fred of course
plus several iconic Gene Kelly numbers

That's about all I can thnk of I would call really iconic. There are a few more tenuous ones like Strictly Ballroom - Paso maybe - but would you really be able to identify the film from the dance if it were performed by different people? Same goes for Save the last Dance, Cuban Fury and Dance with me.

Every other dance I can think of that I would call iconic is a group number.

You are quite right and I read somewhere that Forsyth thought he was taking a risk.

Sounds like a desperate attempt by ITV to cash in on Strictly's success. No doubt ITV will fill it with Z-listers like they normally do
