I thought tonights show was the best opener in years. Mixing up the trails to start with: The bridge, Canoening and sky diving made it all the more interesting - a bit of variety.
Have to agree. Can't remember a better opening night. Fantastic. Well done to the producers for mixing it up like this. The saving a celeb element was new and fresh and really worked. How many shows on TV for as many years as this as not only just as fresh, but even better than before. The likes of X-factor and Strictly are so on the wane.... jaded and boring compared to this.
Really? If you like OTT Hollywood-esque music to create tension where there is none. Soundbites explaining what was just said 10 seconds previously, Slow motion, more slow motion and a bit more slow motion for the hell of it.

You are so so negative! Do you just thrive off negativity?
It was great, but then I can't remember not particularly enjoying any of the openers. There's nobody instantly annoying or unlikeable though which is great, and I'm glad they're not splitting into two camps.
I really enjoyed tonight's programme, it's nice to see likeable celebrities who are up for the challenge, we might see them all attempting trials each day. I loved the team spirit too.
Agree, really enjoyed the opening, thought the 'city' lot did brilliantly in their skyscraper challenge, I felt sick and sweaty just watching it! The whole bunch seem good together, will be interesting to see how friendships develop, or not.
For me it's all about the cast. Normally, on the first night, I dislike nearly all of them. If I'm lucky, there's one, or may be two, that I like. This time I thought they nearly all seemed quite nice, and seemed to get on well. I know it's early days, but it made a nice change, especially after all the toxicity of last year's show.

Yes I agree , they do seem pretty nice contestants but thats not what the producers of the show want is it? They want the fire and the tensions to get the viewers votes later.

I prefer it when the tension arises naturally like the inevitable hunger through losing trials, rather than controversial characters who make life miserable for everyone else and ruin their experience. Life in camp is hard enough for them without having to live with someone detestable. Quick tensions that pass when the group come together again are more entertaining IMO instead of the insane grudge-holding of last year. Lady C and Tony dragged the whole thing down last year for me. Leave that kind of negative interaction for Big Brother. IAC is entertaining in itself, and some of the best years for me have been when there has been good camaraderie. It's supposed to be a feel-good show, not one of the other reality shows that specialise in Fight Nights.

Great post, I agree. Let it all happen naturally, instead of this incessant need to create friction.

I gave up on it last year, it was just too miserable and annoying to come anywhere near 'entertainment'. I wasn't going to bother this year but was talked into it by the family - I watched it this afternoon and yes thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know many of them but they all look like a good group ready to help each other and take on the challenge.
What did some people expect, them to go into camp and have production get them at each others throats from the start
I thought it was a nice sedate start, which is what it should be.....Laughing and joking and letting them settle in without provoking them from the start
