I laughed like a drain when Claudia told Ed that next week he will be doing a jive to Great Balls of Fire and will be lowered from the ceiling playing a piano. He obviously didn't know and his expression was priceless! "Am I?" he said and looked at Katya for confirmation. I'm not sure whether she knew either! Worth putting him through just for that reaction!

They love lowering people from the ceiling at Blackpool! Last year it should have been Jeremy Vine on a guitar but he got voted off the week before, so Craig did it insead as part of the opening number. Judy Murray came down with a load of balloons for her "Fly a kite" number I remember too. Probably others I've forgotten.

I'd rather see Russell fired on by a cannon, frankly.

Russell Grant and the cannon.
that was Wembley but technically the same week so

I was at that show - took him forever to get into the cannon (of camera) whilst Flavia jived away on her own

it does confirm just how much the producers are dictating the content of the numbers, though, doesn't it? The fact that Katya looked as bemused as him means that she essentially has to choreograph around the set pieces that the production team has predetermined. Next week is going to be littered with props and stuff that none of the professionals have asked for (or probably want).

Funny, the way he responded made me think he knew. His shock seemed to be deliberately fake for comedy effect.

Just to be precise, Judy actually went up with a load of balloons at the end of the routine:

Back to lowering (Wembley not Blackpool though), there was also Victoria Pendleton on the bike:

That sounds hilarious - I would have been a crying mess!!!

This is exactly how I saw it.

Victoria Pendleton looked extremely uncomfortable. That one looked really awkward.

Didn't Craig come down on a witches' broomstick one Halloween Night?

It's always a "show stopper." Well, the BBC think so.

I doubt that the Production team bother checking if anyone is scared of heights before planning these stunts

I think this would be a perfect week for him to leave the competition, Blackpool etc.

Of course he knew. Widdy used to reel off her dumb stunts about three weeks in advance...

I must admit when Claudia told him I thought poor guy another comedy routine but he does seem to embrace it so hopefully is ok with it. And he may get to show off some dancing too.

It was a funny moment but to be honest I'd prefer it if they left the silly stunt television to all the other Saturday night programs that are fully of silly stunts throughout the year.

I wasn't sure if she was joking when she said it, but you all seem to believe her so I assume it is what he will be doing. ( still not sure if it was a joke though)

Shame she didn't use a smiley wasn't it?

It may well have been one of her ad-libs. But the "Rainbow Worrier," might pick up on it and decide to include it. Dunno about the logistics, have they had them at Blackpool before? High ceiling etc.

Good point. What if there was another Gareth Thomas incident?

What happened to Gareth Thomas?
From Wikipedia;

In December 2012, he was formally announced as one of the contestants, due to take part in the eighth series of ITV's Dancing on Ice in January 2013. His partner was Robin Johnstone. He was near the top of the leader board all week. In week 8, he suffered nausea and motion sickness whilst practising his "flying" routine, and was advised not to perform it and afterwards was advised to drop out of the rest of the series because of this.

I'm sick of people being fired out of cannons and flying, when Widdy did it, it was wow because it was the 1st time it happened but now its frankly common

How about starting a dance with dancing . That would be something new for SCD .

Have any of these celebs got any backbone and just tell them I'm not doing your silly stunts .

Being lowered from the ceiling is getting old, how about a flying trapeze.
