I bet you they survive, and rightly so. Greg Rutherford needs to go and I don't think Claudia has a huge fan base
Assumption and over-assertion much?! Nobody NEEDS to go and Claudia had enough of a fan base not to end up in the DO despite the fact that Ore scored higher on the leader board than her did. I think they've got to the stage where no one is terrible and it's just a case of who is less good and less popular - even Ed's pretty good for a bottom of the leaderboard candidate.

Well lets get Ed booted out and see who is right

I know that I am not enjoying this series as much as others. Its embarrassing to see him survive despite being the worst. Its nearly Week 10 and we're going into December.
You must embarrass easily then. This happens every single year without fail - there is someone who is always bottom of the leaderboard and gets voted in despite anything the judges say and 'better' dancers get eliminated at their expense. At least Ed's putting a bit more effort and in is more entertaining then a lot of them.

I'm surprised that other professional dancers go for quite serious dances when it would be more entertaining if they did the same as Ed and Katya so I feel I would enjoy Danny Mac more if he did a gangnam style samba.

They have so far given ED every fun dance going since when is it fair to a salsa then a jive the next week he luck going to run out.

But it's not their decision what they do, it's "The Rainbow Worrier's," she makes the final decision as to the balance of the show.
I'm with her, if it's her choice that, "one clown is enough." As it is every year.

I think that the people who are not expected to make the final few weeks tend to do the most 'fun' dances early on as that's mostly what the viewing public wants to see from them (not sure how much public appetite there is for Ed and Katya's rumba, for example).
For those with expectations of lasting longer in the contest, it makes sense to mix it up a bit more so you have a few crowd-pleasers left for the final weeks.
Of course, nothing is certain and nobody ever knows when their time will be up and everyone has a different idea of 'fun' anyway, I know...

they've done a decent job with the slow dances in the early weeks too....and they've still got the AT if they ever let bottom-dwellers do one!! Can't wait...if they manage to get through....!

Then why did we get weeks such as Rob Rinder with a Cow, yet of late he has been dancing without the extreme gimmicks?

I've no idea what that means.

No body gets lumped with a cow as a prop or be the most unlikely person to be Fred Flintstone unless they are being given komedy routines.

So Ed is not the only clown of the year.

That was just one dance wasn't it?

Ed's the main clown.

Ed must be doing something really right, because none of the dancers seem to resent him yet.
In some other series some of the pros and even contestants were a bit weary that when they were genuinely trying to get through, the duffers would get voted through leaving good dancers in the dance-off. But people seem to dig what Ed is doing.

Ed's the main clown.
Cha Cha with a judges desk. American Smooth with frilly pink shirt & coyness. Paso as a moth, Fred Flintstone Charleston, Viennese waltz with a cow. Even the Jive was as camp as a row of tents.

Ed may be the main clown now, but wasn't the only one at the start.

They know which way their bread is buttered, Balls was a massive coup getting him on and he has increased the profile for everyone involved.

As for the ratings they wouldn't want to risk losing him too early, he has a week possibly two left in him, still some non-runners to go before it gets serious.

Risk?

You still don't get it do you? (again!)

The judges can't do more than what they've done, give him fewer votes than anyone else. It's the public that are keeping him in. The BBC can try to influence the viewers by selective training clips etc., But they can't make them vote for him.

You've been told that twice now.

Yes, I agree, they don't seem resentful at all.
Aljaz actually said Ed and Katya's salsa was his favourite dance of the series which was very gracious of him considering Daisy went out.

Ed is definitely a clown. I would like to see him do one dance where he takes it seriously. Most of his dances have been comedic.

That's the point I'm making, if survives Blackpool and he gets ballroom next week where there's no intended comedy content, he'll be out.

There is a lot that can be done with either of the tango's.

He took his waltz seriously, his AS and his charleston. He clowns in the Latin numbers because his technique is not so good and so klever Katya has created characterisations for him that work alongside whatever dance they are performing.
