Was that faked do you reckon?

Were they REALLY walking the plank over the edge of a tall building?

Even if they was they had a safety rope so they wouldn't have fallen to their death as long as that is bared in mind it was not dangerous at all.

Yes, a strange thing to give them as the safety line would presumably stop anything happening to them.

I wouldn't have done it! Weirdly, I love flying (in helicopters and planes) and wouldn't have had a problem with the rooftop per se, but edging out on a platform (especially as the wind kept picking up) irrespective of any harnesses/safety helmets etc would have been a no goer. I would definitely wimp out. Same as when we went to NZ, my friends all did tandem skydiving and I didn't - I have absolutely no inclination to throw myself out of a plane regardless of how many times this has been performed safely!

I'm just a wimp really ...

I think it was real but I didn't think Ola was. She was pretending to have a fear of heights. No way could she walk out there so quickly with any kind of fear. She would have been like Joel.

And if the safety line failed, a crash helmet would be pointless...................

I wouldn't do it but don't consider myself a wimp. Why do something that's unnecessary?

If Ola had a real fear of heights she would not even be able to walk on the roof .I have and if I am too high up ( past the second floor !! ) I cannot even look out or go on the balcony . I couldnt have been on that roof without feeling nauseous and dizzy .

I agree. I've thought, for some time now, that the contestants have been shrewd when they've voiced their 'fears' - knowing that only an idiot would put themselves up for public voting. They know how the public work.

They could hit their head off the platform on the way down, but presumably the safety line would stop this.

I agree, I felt sick just watching it. Ola was playing us, shame because I quite like her.

As I said, if the safety line failed and they went plummeting to their death, a crash helmet would be be pointless.

Yes I realise. We are talking about separate things. I was ruling out other ways they could hit their head.

Who said it was quickly, she could have taken 30 mins to do it, but they just didn't show it as it isn't very exciting to watch. Jordan was petrified, but his way of dealing with it was just walk out there confidently. You could tell Joel was petrified as they panned down to his foot, which was shaking in a big way, that would be hard to put on!

It was definitely real, but no money on Earth could make me walk that girder I'd probably just get so shaky I'd run a mile.

I do think all of the celebs were told in advance that the girder walk was going to happen in the first episode.

The five that did it were the only willing ones. A bit of a con in a way, making us think it was just thrust on them.

The claws are out for Ola already, I see.

How was she playing us? She said in her introduction the one thing she was scared of was heights. Doesn't matter how she did it, she did it. Just like Joel did it. He could've easily been faking it, too.

Yet, only the pretty woman was faking, of course

Whenever there are gantries, wires and such gubbins above and around people these days, helmets are supposed to be worn in case of equipment becoming loose etc and falling on them.
A tether does not stop someone who suffers from vertigo from feeling great fear from being at an uncomfortable height.
I went in a cable car in Grenoble once and spent the whole trip clinging to the central pillar in it, I was convinced the floor was going to give way and that would be it. Very silly really but that was how I felt.
If any of them were really, really scared they couldn't have done it, tether or not.

Exactly . I went up the Television Tower in Berlin . Its not open but glass to the floor . And French girl who I didn't know and I clung to each other at the lift door till it came .
Went on a bus tour in Madeira and cried like a baby when it stopped on top of a bloody mountain
Had to bow out of a trip on the Amalfi coast as I knew I wouldn't cope with the height
