Surely the time has come for the BBC to change take, such a dormant dull pair of presenters no chemistry, no talent, no humour, just bland.

I could see Daly as ornament in the past but her day has gone as she rapidly ages, Winkleman is nepotism of the highest proportions, her mother was good though she isn't.

Zoe Ball and a replacement for Forsyth could move things forward, BBC can't rely on Ed Balls for the humour every year.

It ain't broke because Cow has made a mess of the alternative. Before long there will be a rebirth from ITV Saturday night and then the BBC will have to do better.

Improve while you are on top and my word there is plenty easily that can be done on this show.

I don't follow your logic of saying Claudia Winkleman is "nepotism of the highest proportions" just because she has a reasonably well known parent, but then go on to say Zoe Ball would be an acceptable replacement - she also has a well known parent, so why are you not tarring her with the same brush?

I did a poll here recently (shock horror!!!) to ask who would be FMs preferred presenting duo if the BBC were to sack Daly & Winkleman. I was as shocked as anyone that, despite the mass of negativity against them on these boards, NOBODY actually wanted them booted...AMAZING!!!

You have to look at the economics. The BBC threw money at this show until it beat X-Factor in the ratings.
Ratings are the driving force behind any BBC show.

I really don't think they will increase by much more.

The latest ploy of Louise Rainbow is to chase the teen audience watching X-Factor, (those that stay in on a Saturday night) by introducing a professional "just out of puberty," who will be here next year, with another teenage celebrity.

As with all shows, once they are successful, they will be looking at ways and means now to save money.
This won't mean unnecessary expenditure on "big name" presenters, who have been proved to be not really needed.

The "core target audience" like this show as it is. Dance enthusiasts aren't the major part of it.

I may not think Tess is the most charismatic presenter in the world but she knows the show inside out and is perfectly competent to be its main anchor.

Claudia is funny, perceptive and makes an excellent stooge to work alongside Tess as the straight woman.

It's time people moved with the times and accepted that the traditional format of older male presenter as anchor with a vacant but visually attractive dollybird as his spangled assistant has no particular place in 21st century society.

Well that is exactly how they did use Daly, looking good but not doing or saying very much with Forsyth, now the vacuous airhead presenter who struggles to speak English, even off a board, what is the point of her on the box.

Winkleman isn't funny and when her lack of ability is exposed like her attempts on the radio the results were predictable.

Claudia is a very intelligent woman with a very quirky sense of humour loved by me from her time hosting IT2. Sometimes I'm sure her not so funny interludes with Tess are scripted for her. She really shines left to her own devices with celebraties and professionals alike.

Er yes.... that's why I commented on why it was appropriate to change the format. Tess is perfectly competent, if lacking in charisma, but at least she can't be accused of trying to make the show all about herself. She may not be the life and soul of the party but she does at least understand that it is the contestants who are the primary focus of the show and she performs her role adequately and without trying to be something she is not.

If you think Claudia isn't funny, that's your prerogative but it's apparent that this is not a view which is universally shared. One thing SHE is able to do, which Tess cannot is think on her feet, be spontaneous and ad lib as required. On that basis, she is a great asset and works well in the role to which she is assigned.

It is all totally scripted, since Forsyth departed all spontaneity has gone and all they can trust Winkleman with is kindergarten humour. Yes like Daly she knows the score and would never rock the boat but surely better should be expected.

Definitely. Those are always intended to be awful puns or alleged misunderstandings... but usually as her own expense. They're just intended to be fillers I suppose, for prop re-arrangement.

You're right though, she is really good when left to her own devices in the Clauditorium.

How can the post dance chat be scripted? She has no idea what the responses to her questions are going to be? She reacts to whatever they say to her and responds accordingly. They have no idea how many seconds it will be until the judges have their marks ready, so it's all ad-libbing.

Sorry to shatter your illusions but it is all totally scripted, Winkleman is not capable of doing other than she is told. Pre prepared questions and answers the marks are irrelevant.
