I don't see how calling someone their name is rude don't get that. I have only analysed ability and performance, never stepped over the line of personal abuse.

All the problems which have dogged this programme for the last couple of months and have been debated endlessly by a few on here, seem last Saturday, to have passed other 10.9M viewers by.

You know, this is really silly. I am not a fan of using peoples surnames myself and I always hate it when they do it with politicians, BUT nobody has the right to censor other peoples posts. I would guess it is your insistence that the poster who annoys you changes that is hardening their resistance.

Lets all try not to make personal comments, just debate the posts.

No IanMatt, you haven't, despite much provocation. As I've said up thread, I don't like the surname thing myself but you absolutely have the right to use this format if you wish. I really struggle to see why it upsets anyone so much.

I used to think Zoe would be the right person and I can see her replacing Claudia, but I don't think she's quite right for the main host. She can tip over in to the same sort of hysteria that frequently assaults Claudia and my view is that we needs someone much more polished.

I think he'd prefer Matt, instead of Ianmatt

Perhaps you do not read the sneering tone behind the surname use.

Would you be happy to be referred to only as Simpson?

They are the worst part of the show.

You should, perhaps, read my posts more carefully. I have been clear that I find the use of surnames unattractive.

However, I remain of the opinion that a message board works best, and stimulates wider debate, if users do not resort to making personal remarks about other users or expressing opinions on what sort of person they may or may not be. The debate is surely enlivened by discourse, however opinionated, and cheapened by personal attacks.

I had a look at 'find other posts by ianmatt' I don't think it is out of order to point out if a poster is inconsistant- so all I will say is that when I did 'find other posts by ianmatt[ the vast majority of times he used first names (Paul and Ian on Have I got News for you) or both names in a few threads. Surnames only appears to relate to Daly and Winkleman, as that isn't how he posts on other threads.

Then isn't that indicative of a constant intense irrational aversion to a particular couple of people on TV?

Given the constant attacks of course.

I think I topped that when I read it, as I replied with "Are you the only one?"
Seemed too have gone unnoticed.

You come over as a BBC boy so you will defend your own. One argument you made was it would be more costly to replace them, my research tells me Winkleman is one of the top paid on the BBC on over 500k per year, so for the TV Taxpayer she could be replaced for better and cheaper very easily. Stealing a living could be argued, although she is probably better value than Lineker.

That makes a change!

Many say I'm anti-BBC!

Don't believe everything you read about pay for the BBC's top people. It's a closely guarded secret and they aren't on PAYE, so we've no idea what are the financial arrangements.

What you've read will be speculation, based on the many programmes in which she features during the year.

Zoe Ball no. She is better kept away on BBC2. She comes all over false enthusiasm which is very wearing.

Leave the programme as it is thank you. Just my opinion though.

The vast majority surnames are used.

Agree.

I cannot see why there is so much venom posted.

It's a Ten million viewer show!

They do an excellent job.

Some posters here are just rude.

Look at X Factor, constant changes took the show down from 16.6 million to 6 million. The negativity here would just kill the show, and the negativity here is putting genuine nice posters off reading this forum.

Question.

When the audience does stand up, how would you suggest Tess actually comments on it? Or you suggest she ignores it? If the audience is on their feet, then they are on their feet.

I really can't see what the issue is, nor can the ten million viewers who watch and love SCD.

If you halve that salary, you would be far closer......

Licence fee is a licence fee and not Tax so taxpayers do not come into it.

If you replace her you could damage the show, constant changes or tinkering with a shows format kills it.
- X Factor.
- GBBO.

When Bruce was on the show you could see him encouraging the audience to stand up with arm gestures. At least Tess has never done that.
