Any Bjork fans around? Whats your favorite album?

I never rated Bjork, always though her music was a bit odd and pretentious. But having listened to some her albums (the first 5), I am truly amazed by her both her voice and very experimental sound.

She is one of those artists in which your personal favorite album changes during the course.

1. Debut- fantastic way to kickstart her career, incorporates Indian/Bollywood sounds
2. Post - embodies the whole 90s aesthetic with tracks like Army of Me, Hyperballad and Isobel
3. Homogenic - Her magnus opus electronic album with splendid production, which to this day sounds very current.
4. Verspertine - feel as though this album can really give Homogenic a run for its money, it has a very atmospheric quality to it
5. Medulla - really unconventional but works amazing with it being acapella.

Probably has one of the best discographies around

Sow which song/albums are your favourites?

Its a tough choice but i settled on 'post' even though its oh so quiet gets on my nerves now. come to think of it..i never liked it much in the first place, except the video was brilliant.

Debut, for me, as it has the highest number of album tracks to tracks that I love ratio with Venus As A Boy, Violently Happy, Big Time Sensuality, Play Dead and Human Behaviour. Post is fine, but I find myself skipping more than I listen to. After that, it's all a bit too avant garde for my taste.

Love love love Bjork!

Homogenic is one of my all time favourite albums, I love how it gels together sonically, it's just amazing. Vespertine too, a quiet, intimate album perfect for wintry days.

On the last few albums, she's gone a bit too avant garde for me, so I've kind of lost my way with her a bit. I didn't really like anything from Volta or Biophillia. I've heard that Vulnicura is meant to be amazing though, so I'll need to give it a listen.

I feel exactly the same. Homogenic is my favorite as well.
I didn't like her more avant garde recent stuff, but I love Vulnicura. It has more of older Bjork to it and is much more listenable. Definitely something you should hear.

I've only seen her live once, she doesn't tour too much. I want to see her live again!

Yeah I've heard it's very reminiscent of Homogenic, beats and strings. I'll need to check it out.

Lucky you! Where did you see her?

I've seen everyone I've wanted to, but never Bjork. I really need to tick her off my list.

Lapsed fan!
Followed her fervently for the first 3 albums, then stalled on Vespertine, due to its 'glitch' type sonics. (I can't stand that period when 'glitch' became 'a thing', Autechre & Warp), though, with Bjork, it was more palatable and I s'pose there was the beginnings of 'glitchiness' on Homogenic if i'm honest!

Saw her on the Homogenic tour & she was predictably amazing.

Strangely i've felt 'rumblings' in my musical bowels that its time to pick up slack & try all the albums i've missed.

Whats held me back?

Her albums require a certain commitment. They're quite dense and sonically have lot's going on. I don't necessarily like them on the first listen, but find it takes time. Which is a good thing.

I did buy Volta, but haven't played it yet! Sometimes I buy music but don't play it till the time 'feels right' & I know if I 'force it' I ain't gonna like it at that particular time.

I guess Homogenic was my favourite, with Post a near second. I'm really drawn to the Biophilia cover, for some reason, something tells me i'll love it just due to it's cover, dunno why?!!

Fav song? JOGA! "Eeeeeeeeeee-mo-tio-na-aaa-aal laaandsc-aaa-aapes"...

Oh, ps! Loved the Soundtrack to 'Dancer In The Dark' too.

All her albums from Debut up to and including Medulla are brilliant. Her albums went off the boil after that but she came back hard with Vulnicura.

It would be a fight between Homogenic and Vespertine for me... If pushed I might have to go with Homogenic because the timing has to be right for me to enjoy Vespertine at its fullest. I just wish she ended Homogenic with the original version of All Is Full Of Love.

It was many years ago in NYC at Radio City Music Hall. Fun gig! She always has really cool visuals. I believe it was the tour promoting Volta.
