Is that the name of the next new ITV quiz show after this one?
Ha.
When I first read the title of this thread, I thought it said "terrible ITV quiz".

It's OK, I quite like Warwick Davies in this, he's fairly engaging. The questions are OK, not too easy. But like the alphabet one with Jeff Stelling, the final round is almost impossible.

The final round requires the team (or how many remain of them) to get the Perfect 10, to quote Beautiful South, ie all 10 answers to a list between them.

This was achieved once this week during the preliminary rounds, so could it be done in the final round eventually? You never know...

The question where she gave all 10 answers was an easy one because there were a limited number of possible answers. As soon as it came up ( permanent members of the ICC ) I immediately thought of 8. The only 2 I had minor doubts about were Bangladesh & Zimbabwe. However, when the answers were being revealed it became clear that they were listed alphabetically. The positions of the last 2 answers meant that the missing names came between Australia and England and after West Indies, confirming my initial thoughts.

Contrast this with other questions used in the final round, for example the one about best selling car types. While some car brands were more likely, there were some, like BMW, that I wouldn't have thought of, and others, like Renault, that weren't in the top 10.

Warwick is good. The sound effect as it climbs the ladder is so irritating though.

It makes me laugh how they put the canned audience applause all over the quiz, as ITV do with all their daytime TV quizzes, though it's plainly obvious there isn't one there, especially in the long shots during the final.
What have ITV got against an actual studio audience? They manage to squeeze one in on the Celeb versions.

Much easier questions today, especially the final.

Well I love it!
Warwick is great too.
I have started to make a note of question and answers and when family visit at weekend I ask the question and see how they go on with the answers.
And why not have 3 quiz shows on one after the other..... have to say they are much better than stuff like Judge Rinder and the likes.
Well done to all involved.

You couldn't make today's final up any better. They need one answer to win and it's the guy's own name. He says he's gonna say that as his answer, the rest of the team start celebrating and then he gives a totally different answer.

Looking at various standards of answers required by quizzes, the answer Bach to the composers category would have been challenged as 'Which one ?', by say Paxman on UC. I thought if you are not an ale drinker, that category was hard.

LOL at Bob on yesterday's show who didn't say Mozart and instead gave two incorrect answers and was knocked out, then said he was saving Mozart for later!!

I notice that Warwick doesn't explain in detail, as Richard Osman does on Pointless, why some answers are wrong, e.g. in todays show:

The answer of "Greenland" for the top 10 by population of countries with "land" in their name was wrong because of its population, but also it is not a country but a Danish territory.

The answer of Middlesbrough for the top 10 of football teams with "United" in their name was wrong because it is called Middlesbrough F.C.

That would have been a totally different list

I too scoffed at that answer only to be proved partly wrong as it was 13th on the list so not such a bad answer as I first thought.

I imagined the sun and moon would be the first two guesses. Did anyone else get Henry Fitzroy on the wives and children of Henry VIII ?

I thought it was by land area, not population. Also, two of the answers ended in 'lands'. I don't remember him saying that was ok but I was busy making tea at the time.
One thing I did hear him explaining, was that it was only countries recognised by the UN so Scotland & England don't count but he accepted Ireland, which is divided into the Republic of Ireland, which is a correct answer and Northern Ireland which isn't.

Although the header for the question referred to "largest countries", Warwick went on to explain that this was in terms of population, not land area which I too would have thought it meant. The word "land" could come anywhere in the name, e.g. Solomon Islands, this just seemed to be acccepted.

The former name of "Republic of Ireland" was replaced with just "Ireland" a long time ago.

Thinking sports-wise they still use Republic Of in FIFA but in the Olympics they don't.

That's just because in football they have to distinguish between the two Irelands as Northern Ireland play as a separate team whereas in the Olympics Northern Ireland are part of Great Britain & Northern Ireland ("Team GB").

I only got the 6 wives and the 3 legitimate children. There was a programme on last week, where Henry Fitzroy was mentioned but surely he wasn't Henry's only illegitimate child. I couldn't believe he said Mary Queen of Scots, who was Henry's sister's grandchild.

They use Ireland in rugby union but it's a combined, all Ireland team.
