I thought it was by land area, not population. Also, two of the answers ended in 'lands'. I don't remember him saying that was ok but I was busy making tea at the time.
One thing I did hear him explaining, was that it was only countries recognised by the UN so Scotland & England don't count but he accepted Ireland, which is divided into the Republic of Ireland, which is a correct answer and Northern Ireland which isn't.
Although the header for the question referred to "largest countries", Warwick went on to explain that this was in terms of population, not land area which I too would have thought it meant. The word "land" could come anywhere in the name, e.g. Solomon Islands, this just seemed to be acccepted.
I only got the 6 wives and the 3 legitimate children. There was a programme on last week, where Henry Fitzroy was mentioned but surely he wasn't Henry's only illegitimate child. I couldn't believe he said Mary Queen of Scots, who was Henry's sister's grandchild.
Groundhogal, may I suggest you pay more attention to the "small print" as Warwick calls it. Orangecrab has already explained what he said about the countries question. As for the Henry question, he explained that the illegitimate child was the one widely accepted by historians and acknowledged by Henry himself.

I usually do but like I said, I was making a cuppa tea in the kitchen.

I like Warwick Davis but God this programme is as dull as a wet Tuesday in Clacton. I switched over after ten minutes.

A quick check of the UN website confirms that the member state is known as Ireland.

They missed one out. The theme song Grease is the first track and not Summer Night. I can't recall Warwick saying that didnt count. If I had been on there I would have said Grease and been really annoyed if they had said no. So really this was incorrect.

There was a couple of tracks, I'd never heard of. Is this the stage musical soundtrack album or the film one? The opening song, Grease (Is The Word) was written for the film.

The film. A lot of the songs now considered synonymous with Grease (You're The One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted To You) were written for the film. The tracks you don't recognise were background music only, one an instrumental.

Although it wasn't said in public I think there must have been an agreement that Grease would not be in the list, for fairly obvious reasons. It is standard practice in this sort of case to exclude the bleedin' obvious answer.

We seem to begetting a bit bogged down with this "should Ireland be included".
All we want to know is......do you like the show?
My answer is..... yes!

I like it too. Although I have to confess I've been recording it and zipping through the subjects I'm either not interested in or don't know enough about to play along...

Definitely one of the better new quizzes I've seen, though.

I'm not really understanding this last 10 presidents round. Last week, when they had to name the last 10 first ladies, they had to give their full name but for presidents, which is a bit easier, he's getting away with the first name, President with some of them.

I'm growing to like this quiz now, though I don't like the noise its makes when its going through the board.

I've not seen any where they've won the money yet so I think they should get a percentage of the money when they get to 5 correct answers and then a bit more if they reach 8 correct

I was saddled with this nauseating crap this afternoon and aside from reaffirming my dislike for Warwick Davies, who piggybacks off of Star Wars and Ricky Gervais, I do wonder where they find these contestants? One could barely name the 12 Days of Christmas list and between then all, could hardly name anyone from Only Fools and Horses! Who on this planet hasn't watched OFAH? I think this show should be renamed Terrible because frankly, that's what it is.

Anyone who dislikes Warwick Davis is so far out on a limb on one end of the spectrum that their views on anything else are highly likely to be totally disregarded.

He did a really interesting (and moving) documentary in 2013 about the Ovitz family - a family of Romanian Jewish dwarves who survived Auschwitz as an entertainment troupe.

Who on this planet hasn't watched OFAH?.
At least 99% of its inhabitants. Besides, it's one thing to have seen an episode or two. It's quite another to remember every character's name and recall them under pressure. I've watched many, many episodes but I only did one better than the guy on the hotspot. As for the 12 days, give it a try when you're out and about tomorrow. If you find one person that gets it absolutely right from 10 to 5 you'll be doing extremely well!

Indeed. But then I'm more worried about the apparent failure to understand that when he mentions Star Wars etc. he's actually taking the piss out of himself. Must be a terribly humourless life. Perhaps we could club together and buy the poor tortured soul a couple of therapy sessions!

Me

My only complaint about this show so far is when the answer is wrong, how long it takes for them to find out that it's wrong. Drags on a bit for me.

Trouble is if they cut it to a half hour slot it would probably feel horribly rushed.
