There hasn't been a good one this series and as a dance I don't think it suits Strictly, there isn't that much variation in steps and it barely covers the floor so the dances are stale and full of lifts.

Would anyone miss it?

I don't see why they should - there's normally at least two or three per series that I enjoy. Jay's and Ainsley's were both great fun last year, and I also enjoyed Anita's, Jeremy's and Helen's to varying degrees on a comedy level.

So far this year I haven't really been sold on any of them (although Daisy's was a cute bit of fluff) but then we havent seen a lot of the better dancers, like Danny, Claudia and Louise, even attempt it yet. I have faith that Rinder's going to bring full camp joy to it in Blackpool though.

Why the Salsa over the Samba, OP? Genuine interest.

I'd lose the rumba, the samba and the foxtrot first. I don't think they need to cut the salsa, they need to stop giving people the wrong music for it. (This is admittedly the opinion of a non-salsa dancer who doesn't know salsa music but I doubt we're getting it.)

To be honest I'd be sad to see any of the current dances binned. They're all worth it for the gems we do get - even if it's much rarer to get them for some dances!

Also agree with Monkseal that many of the better dancers in the competition haven't actually danced it yet. Think Judge Rinder will deliver a crowd-pleaser in Blackpool too.

The issue with salsa, as jtnorth says, is the inappropriate music, and also the inappropriate choreography. Having to rely on outsiders to choreograph the routines interrupts the pro/contestant dynamic and most of the salsas this year have needed bog roll

Samba is a ballroom dance that most pros are familiar with from competitions. Salsa is not and sometimes, oftentimes, requires outside choreographers.

I say no, it should not be dropped because some are brill and I loved Ed and Katya's.

Winkleman mentioned on Sunday that Oksana was the world Salsa champions, will she be choreographing her own or will even she have outsiders doing it for her.

I hope her husband doesn't help choreograph Rinder's routine because he did Ore's and that wasn't good (who am I kidding, he is so going to do it)

No. She said Oksana was married to the world salsa champion.

I have to admit I've been watching this programme since series 3 and I still can't tell the difference between a salsa and a samba. All the others I'm pretty clear on - even the two types of tangoes – but those two just blur into one for me.

Not to mention the lack of salsa content. I wouldn't be sad to see it dropped. Or what they call salsa now to be simply renamed to whatever it actually is - a sort of hustle based pop/disco dance.

I'd honestly get rid of the Charleston first. I know it's bizarre but I always find them really boring.

Edit - Ok, Georgia's last year was a big exception for me...but generally I just don't like a lot of the steps

No way salsa is one of my fave dances. If a dance had to be dropped I'd say American Smooth or Paso. Not too keen on a Paso. Still waiting for someone to do it to the star wars theme. American Smooth is just like a foxtrot or Viennese waltz but with lifts

Didn,t know he did Ore's. He choreographed Danny and Oti's Argentine Tango, i thought that was great!

LOl....it took quite a few celebrities out of the competition this year so I see why you're saying this op but I would rather see the foxtrot or Charleston dropped. ...I really don't care for them , especially the latter.

Thank you. At least I'm not alone on this. I don't understand why the public loves the Charleston so much another reason why we're probably never going to get rid of it.

No. it's good for them to have a challenge. And when done well it's a beautiful dance.

No .... there's been lots of fab ones. Matt Di Angelo, Jay McGuiness, Caroline Flack, Natalie Gumede, Mark Ramprakash, Kara Tointon, John Barnes, Ali Bastian ... and that's just those that come straight to mind. Great party dance and a joy to watch when the celebs get it right.

No they just need to start actually doing salsa! Looking at some of the old SCD salsa people have posted over the last few days and there have been some good ones, especially when there hasn't been the focus on the 'dramatic' lifts at the expense of the rest of the dance. I'd limit the lifts or take them out.

The main difference for Strictly seems to be lifts so they end up as a Salsasambacha. None have managed the constant loose and open hip movement needed with small steps.

Add me to the list. The only ones I like tend to be sophisticated rather than slapstick. OMG I hate slapstick Charlestons.

I almost always groan when I see a couple I like is doing one. I just regard them as "faff" dances that don't give any real indication of how proficient a dancer a celebrity is.

You know, as long as you look clunky and stupid on time, you're fine
