SHe knows what a nutcase Caz is and Maria was a friend to her..... suddenly "Maria is a nutjob - my poor dear Caz"

Kindly stop changing characters personality to suit your current storyline. It makes Kate look like a schizo

Yeah I don't get this either! When she was alive, she did nothing but tell Caz to drop dead or that she couldn't care less about her anymore. Even when she was homeless she showed no sympathy towards her.

Hardly any of the story makes sense. The producer and writers don't care.

Kate is a completely crap character & has been since day one in my opinion!!
This isn't actually that far out of character for her!!

When she first appeared Caz was the love of her life who she couldn't wait to marry... until she met Sophie, who for a start she couldn't stand, but of course in soap style that was just a cover for the fact they fancied the pants off each other really!!
After one near snog on the sofa which Caz clocked & they fell out about all of a sudden it was back to all Caz & Sophie was frozen out completely!!
Caz was then understandably concerned, told Sophie to 'do one' & Kate got all whimpery & couldn't make up her mind what she wanted, calling off the wedding & getting all pally with Sophie again!!
Caz being Caz, saw a chance to win her back when she got her injury & exaggerated it a bit, causing Kate to move her back in & freeze Sophie out again, until she finds out Caz's deception, then with an overreaction of epic proportions banishes Caz from her life for good & spends the next few months treating her like a cross between a she devil & something she trod in!!
Maria, more fool her, befriends Kate while Caz is on her injury break but is soon 'unfriended' again when Maria takes pity on Caz & lets her stay at her's!!

Now fast forward a few weeks & Caz is suddenly "the girl I once loved" & Maria is the one who's the she devil/something Kate trod in character who is capable of deception, murder, a vicious attack on an army trained soldier & lord knows what else!!

I am willing to go with most parts of this storyline, purely for the entertainment but the whole character of Kate is the one thing I find utterly unfathomable, ecxcept to say it's just typical of her really!!

I don't understand how anyone could think a dainty, slip of a girl like Maria could get one over, or even frighten to the point of tears an ex-army person who helped lift a car off someone and single-handedly threw two thugs out of the Rovers a while earlier.

Just ridiculous!

Apparently Maria has been able to make Caz disappear off the face of the earth, yet disposes of the incriminating evidence within her own street.

I honestly think they have nothing for Kate until Sophie returns at the end of Jan / start of Feb so they have just put her in the Caz and Maria drama even though it doesn't make sense at all.

LIttle point her being there if she's only "the lesbian"

I would say quite the opposite, she's using Maria's ( well the actress) considerable talents well, she is giving her a great storyline, lots of air play and getting her face on screen all the time. Yep, the twists and turns are all a bit hammy but then this is soapland not Sunday night period drama. I thought it quite funny seeing them rooting around in the green bin, I know we could see it coming but it was still funny. Enjoy it for what it is - a break from the real world.

Absolutely Idlecat!! You can sit around picking holes in any one of Corrie's plots if you really want to, but why bother, just enjoy it for what it is, in this case a huge storyline for a character/actress who has been woefully underused for the last 5 years & who, whatever the shortcomings of the plotline, has handled it with her usual skill & aplomb so far!!

I applaud Kate Oates for that, and for tidying up the messy loose ends from Maria's last two storylines as part of the process!!

It's absolutely ridiculous! Just changing a characters feelings to suit the storyline. Just like what happened with Tyrone and Kirsty.

To be perfectly honest Kate offers nothing to Corrie. In fact I be surprised if she isn't written out within the next 12 month.

I don't get all the hate Kate (Faye Brookes) gets on this forum. She's clearly doing something right after getting nominated for NTA's best newcomer award.
