I watch Strictly religiously because I love it, I like Tess and Claudia, I think they do a great job, it's not newsnight it's a light entertainment programme and I think they are really good at what they do. I love Zoe on ITT, I think the insight she has from being a contenstant really brings something to the show and it's good fun all round. I like the professionals, they all work incredibly hard and are very talented and imaginative week after week producing some outstanding performances - I even like all of the Cliftons!

There is a lot of hate on here I feel and I just wonder why some people bother watching at all

You sound like a lovely person.

Of course you are right in theory and when all is said and done, everyone who comes on here and moans can only do so because they watch the programme.

I am rather envious of you because you make it clear that nothing irritates you, at least about SCD. However, I am also surprised if you didn't know that boards such as these are designed for people to vent their opinions if there is a part of a programme that they feel could be improved by a change.

I think disagreement can be healthy as long as people do not get abusive with each other.

No, you have hit the nail on the head. We can't all like the same things. It's healthy to disagree and discuss

Some people (not me) find their enjoyment is enhanced if they can find a celeb, or pro dancer who they hate with a passion.

I can understand why someone might have a favourite- but not why you would hate someone.

We all have 'mannerisms' some of which we might not even be aware of, but it would seem some people pick up on little looks, or expressions, and decide that means they are justified in launching a full on assault on that persons character, as they are 'too this' or 'too that'

But it enhances their enjoyment, so hey ho.....

I do sometimes wonder at the ages of Forum members.....a lot of the 'hate' vocabulary is reminiscent of the playground

Well I don't know whether you are the minority or not, however 11 million people watch Strictly so that would suggest not.

Personally I have no issue with the personnel - presentation team, pro dancers or the celebs. I don't do fan warz either. The only beef I have with the show is their tendency to forgo the integrity of the dance styles in favour of something the producers consider more entertaining. For me a Viennese Waltz or an Argentine tango is just as entertaining when danced as it is supposed to be than when they are corrupted for added entertainment value.

So I will winge about the lack of authenticity in the dances and the poor music selection . I might also have a giggle at some of Tess's outfits but that doesn't mean I hate her - just her dress sense at times.

I thought it was a word not to be used by the terms and conditions of the forum?

I don't hate anyone. Some individuals get on my nerves, but that's life. I love the show (is this unusual for a bloke) and love watching it with my girlfriend, who is obsessed.

I think I'm in a minority, as after a decade, I've never started a thread with "Am I?"

Once again we get accusations of the "hate" word, which has rarely been used.

'hate' vocabulary....not 'hate word' - splitting hairs, I know, but used to imply the type of strong emotions expressed, not necessarily the specific word used

This is part of the phrase used.

"There is a lot of hate on here,"

There isn't, it's mostly valid criticisms or personal perceptions.

There is some though - most of it directed at Natalie Lowe and Ore.

Do you seriously believe that people actually "hate" a pro dancer or celebrity they have never even met? I know we have the over-investing shippers who believe they know the subject of their worship but other than the odd exception who have met the celebs/pros - none of us have enough knowledge to form such a strong opinion.

You are forgetting Lou, that DS boasts a significant minority of people blessed with such insight such that they can read the inner most thoughts of a person on TV from any subtle nuance in their voice or fleeting expression on their faces. Oh to be blessed with such gifts.

Ah yes of course, silly me! And the forensic and fevered analysis of social media accounts - this is a most excellent alternative to actually knowing someone in real life. "M'Lud, let me present you with the evidence, I refer to you Tweet Number 1 from Mr X. Mr X stated that Ms Y was a lovely person, I hereby put it to you that Mr X is in fact the goodest and kindest person that did ever walk this earth. I rest my case".

I don't know it's certainly a bit close to it in some quarters - profoundly negative assumption although some do say. X strikes me as this which at least admits that this is a subjective opinion.

But it's not "hate". Hate is reserved for people like Adolf Hitler in my book. I don't think there is any word which is more mis-used on this forum.

If you were in the minority, you would have been voted off by now (tee hee)

Kidding! Ish

Whenever I see someone take down another contestant, I assume it is to bolster someone other contestent they really like. It might not be the best action overall, but it is passion from people who love the show so I usually just breeze through it.

Then again, RIP Daisy - you monsters!

Do people really go about their daily business raging about something that happened on SCD? I find it hard to believe.

I think people just come onto message boards and social media and get Keyboard Rage Syndrome as some kind of heady five-minute rush. Then they spurt out all the hyperbolic language they've absorbed from the tabloids and social media and sound much more aggressive and worked up about whateveritis excercising them than they actually are.

I've had plenty of moments where I ignored the Step Away From The Keyboard, Dear advice. I've also never gone about stressing over SCD while I'm working or cooking or cleaning or moaning at the kids or having a nice walk, or or or.

Having differing opinions isn't hate imo. I really don't understand this " hate " that some people see on this board. If you like everything fine and dandy with everyone agreeing with each other for the most part then the appreciation threads is the best place to be.
You can't really expect the same on the main board.

A small minority of posts get a bit unpleasant from time to time, but for the rest of the time, I think some of the negative comments arise from people wanting to be witty or memorable, and it's hard to be either when commenting on something that you like.
I find it amusing most of the time, but it does occasionally become a little one-note and then I have to take a break from it all.

Totally agree. If all if us liked the same people, world would be so boring.
