Back in the days of Jackson, Aaron was very much unhappy in his skin as a gay man, and that's what we saw portrayed on the screen. We saw real development in Aaron during his time with Jackson and, by the time that he left with Ed, he was much more at ease.
Since his return to the show, Aaron has given, to me at any rate, the impression of being totally at ease with himself as a gay man.
There's never going to be anything too explicit in an early evening show like Emmerdale but, recently, we have seen what seems, to me at any rate, to have been glimpses of genuine affection between Aaron & Robert. It looks as if Rebecca may rock the boat, or even upset the apple cart, to mix my metaphors, but that's all part of the drama. Whatever happens, together or apart, I shall continue to enjoy watching Aaron, in particular, and Robert. They make up for having to endure the antics of a number of the other characters who I find to be totally loathesome!”
In my mind he has improved because he no longer sets my teeth on edge like he did in his original stint. He was one of the characters I really disliked back then. He's fine now imo, although I don't know why he is thought of as one of the best soap has ever had but there you go, he has a big fanbase which always votes for him.
He reminds me of Lacey Turner (Stacey EE), I didn't like them at all during their original stints but since they've returned after a couple years away I quite enjoy them. She is another who gets a million awards a year because of a big fanbase.
