I think Google is in the process of sorting out its tax arrangements in Europe, I believe they are now moving to have those sales made in the UK to be completed in the UK. They will then be liable for more tax on those transactions. The UK in the next few years will have one of the lowest tax regimes in Europe and should put us competitively with Ireland whom have the lowest rate of Corp Tax ion the EU.
Its positive news either way. I think once we're free of the regulation, we should attract more high tech companies to the country with a ready and able skilled workforce.
This is another one of those "re-announce something we already announced" in the hope it will divert attention from something.

Your comment clearly shows that you (and many others) do not understand what a Hard Brexit means. Or what an end to free movmement entails.
A hard Brexit will not harm Googles investment as nowhere does it say that we will stop immigration of skilled workers that we want to come here. We just don't want any Tom, Dick or Harry (should that be Jean, Fritz or Luigi) coming here with nothing to offer just because they can.

Hard Brexit doesn't mean no immigration.
Perhaps when you understand that, you'll realise you're making a fool of yourself.
Hard Brexit means leaving the Single Market.
Immigration control at that point returns to the UK as a sovereign state.

^ All we have there is yet more selective denial of actuality. You would rather trash this country's economy and have it flushed away down the Gary Glitter than come to a pragmatic comprise deal like such as the ones that Iceland and Norway have. A UK deal like they have would pretty much guarantee that all of Google's investment promises would be fully enacted.

Why the Hyperbole?
The economy is not going to be trashed. Expert analysis ranges from a slowdown of 0.3 to 0.5% GDP under WTO rules.

I think it is you that is in denial. No one is advocating trashing the economy (the Bank of England recently raised our growth forecasts for next year) except die hard remainers refusing to get on with making it work.
With the Norway deal we still have to pay and still have to accept freedom of movement which the majority do not want. Doing away with those will not stop Google or anyone else for that matter investing in the UK and bringing in the "Skilled" workers they require. Though it would be even better if we could train those skilled workers ourselves.
