Virtually every post of yours I've seen relating to the shows 'rigging' or manipulation comes over as VERY angry....so much so that personally i had you pegged as someone likely employed by X Factor!

Yeah, just to chime in with what others have said too.

On the whole I enjoy the X Factor. It's definitely not what it makes itself out to be, but its generally a bit funny and good entertainment.

It does get close to the line and annoy me though when you get suggestions that the acts on it have been tricked or are being manipulated. It's well and good if its a fake competition show where all the acts are aware they're playing a part and it's good exposure, but it crosses a line when it reduces someone to an attribute and then gives the general public a certain idea of them that they then can't shake the rest of their life.

Several examples: Misha B being a bully, Katie Waisel being talentless, whiney and manipulative, Lauren from last year being violent because of that one clip that looked like she was pushing the other girl. These are real people, not just characters in a fictional series. And accusations like that or creating a false image of someone like that will damage their careers irretrievably down the line, unless they get a chance to go on another TV show and show another side to themselves. E.g. Rylan being able to reinvent from bitchy, mainly talentless and dramatic to zany and chatty.

For example. Although she's almost certainly not for real, if Honey G genuinely wanted to make a career as a serious rapper after XF, she would struggle now that she's been pigeonholed week in week out as a comedy act for children.

Scott Savol and John Stevens are two names that spring to mind.

We generally "spin through" a recording to eliminate all the samey padding (back-stories, etc.). Apart from the fact that hours are being wasted whittling the contestants down to Honey G, Matt Terry and one other: the main reason I currently hate the X Factor is the asinine behaviour of the judges, particularly Nicole and Sharon, playing up to the live cameras...

I don't watch at all now so I've got my time back to watch other Tivo'd programmes and just come here through habit when I look at the Strictly CD forum

Have watched it since the start even been to a few of the tours but they have killed the show with all the fake ness and sob stories the judges have taken over the show the joke acts have ruined what could and should be about finding raw talent and coaching them not about what the judges are doing ,it needs a complete overhaul,last weekend was the first time I didn't watch the shows it bores me now ,same songs sung same guests every year

Agree, but how often do we prefer the 'raw' version to the polished finished product (hello Olly Murs, etc.)...
