I once made a Christmas cake in October meant for December.
Come Christmas Day we had been invited to son's house at last minute and they had a cake somwevstored ours away.
The following year they came to us and said they'd made a cake and bring it!
We finally had ours the next Christmas and it was lovely - fed to drowning with brandy, wrapped in greaseproof paper then foil and kept in a Cadbury Roses tin in a cupboard.
27 months after I'd made it.
So fruity and moist 👍

I once lived and worked in Uganda where I still have friends. After coming back here I used to visit them every other Christmas. I used to take out things like Christmas napkins and sprouts! Not sure that would be allowed now. In fact I don't think it was allowed then
The Americans always brought out turkeys.
It was quite a big affair - Christmas dinner for 20 or so people of various nationalities out on the veranda.
Happy days...
