Oh I think both Jordan's were sacked from the show - probably because their personalities were too big to accept the changes that were taking place. Looking back it's amazing Brendan has held on but I think he was able to change his approach whilst the Jordan's couldn't.

I think they allowed Ola to jump rather than be pushed, probably as she was more popular than James. That or why make it difficult for themselves when it was clear Ola was not invested in the show anymore anyway?

She will be earning good money as will he when he does CBB. I can't berate anyone for that. I can't even get worked up over the Ann Summers thing. I think it's tacky for sure considering how talented they are in the dance world but fair enough.

The thing I can't understand is the way James acts like a pimp for Ola. I just don't get it and find it truly cringy.

As a fellow veggie - I share your sentiment

That was one of the things I wanted to convey but I felt uncomfortable about using that actual word...

It was his behaviour that led to him - and then Ola - leaving the show and losing a valuable source of income (and publicity) for them AND a showcase for their talents. Since then, they have been on a steep downhill trajectory with less and less of what they do related to their dancing.

It's Ola who was really the face/body that Ann Summers was interested in but I reckon she only agreed to do it if James could tag along too. It's also noticeable that it's Ola who gets put forward to do the slightly more, shall we say.... challenging of their reality TV appearances - such as The Jump and I'm a Celebrity... whilst James apparently just sat around on CBB, mouthing off to anyone willing to listen. He also seems more than willing to keep sticking the knife into Strictly whenever the opportunity arises. On that basis, his recent behaviour all looks a little cynical and doesn't reflect terribly well on him.

It's a pity they have decided to go down this route because I understand they are both very good teachers and probably still have a lot to offer in the world of dance.”

I agree with this, and would like to add, that I started to dislike James when he tried to spill the beans on how badly treated they were on Strictly, how scripted it is etc, and threw other cast members utb to prove how right he was. I didnt like him using his friends from the show to boost his own ego.

Ola also got a bit of a reputation with his partner Steve Backshall, and James publicly calling Steve out on twitter for not coming to Ola's defense was not cool, either.

Ola and Karen had a well publicised up. James and Kevin got involved and it made thinks awkward behind the scenes. Recently this spilled over to Twitter. I've always said there was jealousy towards Kevin from James due to the attention he got in his first series.

Strangely Ola and Joanne seem to get along very well. Jo even tweeted her to say she missed her.

When did they get into a twitter argument? I've completely missed this.

Would it not be a factor Ola Jordan suffered a very bad knee injury, which would surely have restricted her ability to dance, especially at her age . They were on a long time did a good job and moved on, now Ola is cashing in. If her husband gives his opinion I don't see any wrong in that.

Were they ever 'popular'

I've never liked James and his punching doors, walls etc

I've never been a fan of the Jordans but this is hardly something most of the other pros wouldn't jump on given half a chance. Brenda in particular will clearly do any piece of tat reality competition going from competitive sheepdogging to Celebrity Love Island.

More ageism/misogyny from you is it? She's just turned 34 for heaven's sake!

If you'd been paying attention, you'd have noticed that Ola recovered from her injury and was able to return for the next series of Strictly, so no it has not restricted her ability to dance.

Her husband "giving his opinion" is the main reason why they are no longer part of Strictly. Sometimes discretion in offering opinions is advisable - something James appears not yet to have learned.

EDIT - nice to see you using Ola's given name.

I miss the days of the bad boys (answering back, sneaking lifts + getting told off, oh and James producing 'filthy' Rumbas. I must be evil but it added spice, cringing at their remarks and knowing the relevant judge would retaliate.
I understand the show has moved on but the pros seem to be gagged these days, no longer able to give their opinions (albeit getting marks docked accordingly).

I suppose choices were restricted. Jordans 1 and 2; Jordan Magna, Jordan Parva -- what's a guy to do?

The Clifton's arrival, for me, marked a moment when the show decided it wanted less sex and more family appeal. Suddenly there were two, related, pros who were British rather than James being one of, if not the only, flag bearer. The show pushed the Kevin from Grimsby tag, exaggerating his Britishness further and establishing him as a fixture more than any other new pro. I don't mean this as a criticism but he was clearly a chosen one when it came to promoting the show - and his character is very different to James'.

Obviously the Jordan's noses would be put out of joint considering they were the 'golden couple' in terms of publicity up to this point. Even if the fall out with the Clifton's hadn't happened I'm not sure if they would have lasted much longer anyway - I think Ola's goodbye on It Takes Two, whilst ostensibly a nice thing to do, was a "you are definitely NOT coming back" parting shot.

Remember the tension between the likes of Brendan and James against the judges compared to the past couple of years? The likes of Alijaz, Giovanni and AJ have just sucked it up and even Brendan, maybe seeing the way the tide is turning, has mellowed. I think production wanted a slightly different vibe to the show and acted accordingly - the Jordan's represented the old era whilst the Clifton's signify the new.

penelopesimpson - I hope this answers your question too. ”

BIB^^^ And the move towards family appeal has been bolstered by bringing AJ (& Chloe) on board. The "aw, the cute widdle children" attitude towards AJ & Claudia F reinforces that family appeal impression.

Ola will be the boss and will get things done. James whines all the time. He's all mouth and no trousers, so ideal for Ann Summers?

Ageism/misogyny where all I do is call as I see, clearly you have never had a cruciate ligament restructure, in real terms she has a new knee, if it doesn't affect her ability to dance she is superhuman and the recovery process is harder at 34 than 24, that is just the human body.

Whether they wanted to carry on doing Strictly I don't know, they had probably come to the end of their useful time but they are cashing in now and good luck to them. They had a decent innings and played pretty well.

Thanks. A very thoughtful response and I think you are on the money. The show is less sexy and for me that's an improvement, but I did like James and Ola

Then there must be a lot of superhuman people in the dance world. I know of one wonderful guy who had both knees replaced in his 50s, then continued dancing and competing to a high level. He then had both hips replaced in his early 70s - and recovered enough to carry on dancing. To anyone who asked how he recovered so quickly he would tell them it's a case of 'mind over matter'.

Now in his 80s he still dances at least 4 times a week.
