Idiots!

The interface could do with a refresh but this replicates the idiocy of the current set up. The EPG has a dedicated button, it does not need to be the first item offered when you press the menu button.

If I wanted the effing guide I would have pressed the Guide button.

We don't know for sure because it hasn't launched yet, but I expect that the Guide button will still work when it does. Calling up the Guide is, after all, one of the options in the existing menu, even though its presence there seems to be entirely superfluous. If I remember rightly, it says that our boosts will be available in the 'More TV' section. Does this mean that they will be removed from the programme guide? That, I would have thought, would be a backward step.

Yes the guide button works the same as before.

Any subscribed channels will appear as normal in the guide. The MoreTV application is about on demand stuff such as Sky Movies, Sky TV catch up, and TalkTalk picture box etc. much as the current TT player, but completely redesigned interface.

The TalkTalk button will take you directly into MoreTV.

The images in the TalkTalk news item suggest that it's possible to create a channel favourites list.
Does anyone know if this is the case?

That will be long overdue if so, as well as the facility to put them in your preferred order.

That first image is also included in the video on the same page. The video dialogue at that point states "A simpler menu that quickly gets you to what you are looking for - all the most popular shows and films".
This could be just shortcuts to the current channels that are currently being watched the most.

The second image on the page is accompanied by text that states "..and give you helpful shortcuts to the most popular shows". That also suggests that it is not the owner of the youview box that chooses what to include.

I assume that this new interface is only going to be sent out to Talk Talk's own Huawei Youview boxes!

I only heard there was going to be a new interface about six months ago but I've been presuming that the same interface would be rolled out to all.

There is no favourite channels list option.

Given that 9 times out of 10 I want to watch something I've recorded, having a dedicated button for that (or first option on a menu) would be a big improvement (so I doubt it will be done).

There is a code for that which I have programmed into my Harmony remote control although it is not that reliable. There is a topic somewhere on the Youview forums (which I no longer frequent) which explains how to do it.

Why have they not got round to enabling the usb port?
Why? no Wifi?
That would be an upgrade.
Why does the box take nearly 10 mins to boot up?

But there are comments added to the list that mention the 29/11/2016 update (items 2, 5, 20, 44, 55 and 59). Not all the comments are progress, some are removing features!

Well to answer my own question - Yes, my box updated today and I hate the new look. What's wrong with a simple list like we had before? thumbnails just litter the screen making it so difficult to see what you are looking for and no option to change the layout.

Might have to look into Freeview play see what that looks like.

Is there any way to avoid the update?

Is there an option for text for partially sighted users?

I don't normally have my box connected to the router, but did so in order to get the update.
I did a forced update via the settings menu, but everything looks the same so I'm not sure if it's the latest version or not.
BBC text no longer works, only works on BBC radio stations?
What's the new firmware version ID?

It is a phased roll-out of unspecified length. Even with a "forced update" if TalkTalk have not identified your box yet to be rolled-out to it will stay on the previous software or if you are even more out of date it will update to the previous release.

The red button loss of functionality happened with an earlier software release and it so it looks as though you were missing the last release.

The new version being rolled out to the DN372T is 72.43.106.
The new version being rolled out to the DN360T is 60.43.106.
The new version does is not being rolling out yet to either the DN371T or the DN370T.

Even if you have a DN372T or a DN360T this is a phased roll-out and it could still be weeks before your box can be updated.

You will know when you have the update as it is COMPLETELY different from the (perfectly good enough) old version. It just seems more difficult to use in every way. More button presses to get to your recordings not less as we all asked for. No improvement in speed if anything some things seem slower. The guide is no longer a continuous rolling list and now stops at 793 (on mine) instead of going straight on to 1.
The live feed picture in the corner has gone from the guide so now you can't see the programme as you index through. The picture is still in the background with the guide semi-transparent on top however the picture is so dark that it is hardly noticeable.
When you have watched a recording you have to quickly stop the playback before you get to the very end so you go back to the recordings list otherwise if the recording stops it comes up with message 'recording ended, return to live tv'. This means that if you then want to delete the recording after watching it you have to press loads of buttons to navigate to the recordings list again to find the one to delete. I

t's a total nightmare.

I was 99% happy with the existing UI the only thing I wanted to see was the ability to go straight to recordings when pressing the YV button instead of going to the guide.
I really wish there was an option to go back to something resembling the old UI with simple lists not confusing pictures filling the screen.

Just looked at Freeview play website and their UI looks more like the old Youview so I'm seriously thinking of ditching Youview and Talktalk TV all together and buying a Freeview Play box. There's none of the extra channels that I get from TT that I'd miss anyway so the standard Freeview line-up suits me fine.

PS - My box is a DN372T, component software is 3.1.109 and manufacturer software is 72.43.106
