Within the first 10 seconds there was a contrived moment with Todd walking into the pub just as Phelan was proposing
Corrie love their contrived meetings/scenes.

Eh?!! He's featured in one episode so far......seems a little premature to be saying this already
Calm down dear. I like the actor and feel as though they're taking the character in the Baldwin direction rather than Barlow. He's set out his stall with the Connors and made an impact on his entrance. I like him, I don't expect everyone else to follow suit. This place is a hive of negativity so why would I expect anything else

The problem is still timing.

If we're supposed to believe that episodes relate to the day they're shown, then we have Maria arrested for murder and slung in the cells two days ago and no further mention. Why has that story been paused for Ken's family reunion? It would have been far better to see Maria's police interview running alongside the Phelan/flats story rather than the Barlows which could easily have waited a few more days.

Ken wasn't looking good so of course you have to have the family converge on his bones in case there's any money left that he didn't splurge on his various floozies. In their kindness he might remember them in his will.

True but Tiny Tim, Dumb Michael and Devious Phelan are hardly playboy material are they?
Phelan's 12" (soft) says otherwise.

Plus he comes across like a bellend. I don't know what he was like in his original stint, but it is laughable he has turned up on this street after an absence of nine years and throwing his weight around and has already made two enemies.
Plus we had to clock Tracy's smug face as he tried to act the tough guy with Robert.

Robert seriously needs to mention to Adam the fact that she is responsible for the deaths of 2 people & then let someone else think it was their fault for a couple off months to the point where they almost killed themselves>:

It's still crap imo. Mcbattersby baby, has to be one of the worse current sls Jane is a great actress but is getting crap material like this, the forced scenes with Leanne/Michelle and grumpy Nick being involved just makes this sl even more terrible.
The ridiculous Maria sl, she's dull and Aiden going from not wanting anything to do with her to now burrowing up her ass is eye roll worthy. Caz is an awful actress, she needs to disappear for real.
David trying to blow people up and kill himself one day, then the next acting like nothing happened? Is anything going to happen to him or is Gareh also going to keep quiet so he can shag Sarah.
BIB - we've got Nick being jealous of Peter next week FFS as well, as if that love triangle needs dragging up again I'm holding out for the return of Toyah tbh.

Adam is the complete opposite of what he was when during his last stint, back then he did the 'poor me' act during throughout the whole saga of Mike's will from what I remember.

It's laughable how they are trying make him a carbon copy of Mike, ditto Daniel and Ken.

Oh God the dreaded meet in the street. You'd think the residents of Corrie just walked in circles all day accidentally bumping into each other.

I think the stories have improved however, character interaction is better (ie bigger range) and I like the returns. But still a lot to work on.

I know I'm biased but I find it crazy that we had those intense emotional scenes of Maria being locked up & then it's now looking like it's going to be two whole weeks before we even see her again, as she is not mentioned in spoilers for either tonight or next week!!

What's more, apart from Aidan & Kirk no one on the Street seems remotely interested that the sweet natured litle hairdresser who does most of their hair & is a friend to everyone has suddenly being locked up on a murder charge?? Surely the whole Street would be
buzzing about it!!

Ridiculous writing!!

Agreed. I didn't think that the Maria plot could get any more silly. So we're really not going to see her again for two weeks? The way it's going, next time we see her, she'll have been convicted and be half-way through a twenty-stretch.

The story really needs more attention right now. We needed to see the investigation into Caz's disappearance/whereabouts which the plods seem to have avoided doing completely, Maria's police interview and as I said yesterday, I'd have expected Maria's parents to have flown in ASAP but we don't even know that Kirk or anyone else has even told them.

I know that Tracey has other things on her mind but I'm sure she'd have had something to say about other murderers being on the Street.

Unmissable? I have found it so dull and uninteresting for
the last few months, that I have it on, but continue to read
my current book, and treat it as aural wallpaper!

It's improved, but it's not unmissable.

Not sure about Adam yet. Find him very arrogant and in your face.

Its not unmissable. Some episodes are ok some are utter shit. for me, its little scenes and appearances from my fave characters, Gemma, the Platts, Peter and other characters like Mary, Tim, etc. that make me enjoy episodes. when they don't appear, IMO episodes aren't as good. theyre kinda flat. sometimes i think its better to have little scenes with ur fave characters, instead of the big drama, especially when we're lumbered with Phelan. Ffs, just kill him off already! (Hope they will do that)

JMO

where is Adam from? he sounds Scottish!

i think for Adam and Daniel, they'll probably have stories for a few weeks then b like spare parts. Daniel is ok, Adam is wayyy too cocky ATM, but might grow on me

Adam is Scottish. He grew up in Scotland with Susan before she died. After a stint on the cobbles with Ken, he moved to Canada.

Presumably Ken and Adam won't get on. Adam seems to be exuding all the cockiness, arrogance and displays of wealth that Ken so despised in Mike.

Having spent a year with Adam in Canada previous to now, surely Ken knows that Adam is a carbon copy of Mike? I would imagine Ken is somewhat blind to Adam's faults with it being his grandson? or at least sympathetic to them due to his upbringing?

Ken knows what a spiteful vindictive cow Tracy is, yet rarely chastises or pulls her up on it.

Yeah, that's why I asked. You'd imagine Ken would know how he is, unless a lot of the cockiness has been ramped up subsequently after Ken's visit, if that's when he became successful but they're really not qualities that Ken normally has any time for.

As far Tracy, I think he's given up trying! He's attempted to in the past but he never got any backup from Deirdre and Tracy would always run to her Mum and she'd always take her side anyway.

I think it's been gradually improving for a while now, and I'm loving the fact that The Barlows are front stage and centre again.

Peter is always a great character and Adam and Daniel seem like great additions: Peter has probably found an ally in Daniel whilst Tracy finally might have an ally in Adam. Throw in the other 2 grandkids and the dog and it might actually prove entertaining in the long run if none of them leave.

However it makes me miss Deirdre more - her absense is felt even more, especially when they were all sat in the bistro.

I'm glad this fake building storyline is almost done, and I quite like Gemma. The Platts are as strong as they've even been (although Audreh is MIA - despite her 'daughter' Maria being charged with murder). Plus Gail's stupid days look to have finally ended.

Do we know what the upcoming big storylines are? I can't remembering anything being in the pipeline other than Babygate and Caz being found out - but both are the Christmas storylines I believe, and I can't think of anything else coming up.
