It's infuriating to read these 'man up' posts, and it's infuriating to read al the blame Whitney gets, too.

It's worth mentioning here because there seems to be some confusion amongst Forum members including the OP.

It is now normal business practice for your employer to check your social media activities and for what you post to affect your work. Facebook pictures you are tagged in can also be negative.

A young teacher my mother mentored was sacked when her students stole her personal mobile from her bag, hacked the password and uploaded a couple of selfies she'd taken onto the school intranet before returning the phone. One showed her in a bra (sent to the boyfriend) and a kid tld their parents. The students were not punished by the school and the teacher was told she couldn't press charges as they'd returned the phone.

Another teacher was sacked from my nephew's primary school because there was a picture of her falling down drunk on a friend's hen party during the school holiday posted on the friend's Facebook page and a parent complained.

It's bringing the company/employer into disrepute and treated seriously.

I work in an inbound call centre, and the bullying showed in EE would not be tolerated, but I know people who've been sacked because they've criticised the company by name on FB/Twitter, been caught posting when they should have been working (when at work) or off sick and for posting pictures of the Work Christmas party (again with the company name and showing drunks).
