It was nice of Adam to mention Mike and for Fiz, Sean and Sally to remember Adam (Kirk wasn't paying attention he was on the phone to Maria):

As fo Coronation Street acknowledging the past it happens on occasions Sarah since she's returned has talked about Hayley being Bethany's godmother, Sarah being married to Jason and Sarah and Todd's son Billy dying so they've done ok to remember Sarah's past.

The only downsides so far since Sarah's returned and acknowledging her past though is she never mentions her best friend Candice and not having many scenes with Maria (they were friends while working in the salon together and Maria was bridesmaid for both Sarah's weddings to Jason)

I would like Coronation Street to acknowledge the past more though.

Someone being typecast in a role doesn't necessarily mean they are actually the embodiment of that typecast.

Nice to hear Corrie is actually referencing the past, but the last time they did it it was Sally talking about Hilda and Jean Alexander's dead now, so if I was Johnny Briggs I'd be shitting myself.

That would mean they would have to remember a characters past and not forget it as they did with Kevin Webster.

I liked it. Mike Baldwin is a significant character in Corrie's history so a nod to him is always welcome.

Just thinking about Baldwin's Casuals, with Ivy, Vera, Ida and Elsie Tanner working those noisy sewing machines in their blue tabards........

True. He'll probably never drink Scotch again either. Next episode, it'll be "a pint of the usual please Michelle" just like the rest of them!

It was silly to say the least, and of course a whiskey bottle happened to be stashed in the factory.”

Someone had a whisky the other week in the office.

Had William Roache errrm had to leave - his final words "Mike Baldwin"

Haven't seen the episode(s) so can't comment but I'm generally happy that Adam is being taken in this direction.

Corrie has been crying out for a Mike type character for years now.

So Adam turned up in a Jag?

Was it red/maroon?

Did it have a personalised number plate?

Mike's registration was 837 MVB

The Jag, cigar, whiskey.. it was all hammering home the point too much.

Love it. . . I thought it was crap

Right. Next up - promote Sean to do the wages - tell some men. Adam barges in during a hold-up.

I miss the days of Vera Duckworth, Ivy Tilsley and Ida Clough

I also have vague memories of Elsie working in the factory

Although a factory of some sort had nearly always been part of the show since day one, it wasn't until Mike arrived in 1976 that the factory really became such a key part of Coronation Street.

While the factory girls were fantastic characters in their own right back in those days, it was Mike as the ruthless and seemingly cold businessman who defined the factory as some typically 'Corrie'. The reincarnations of the factory since the departure of Mike in 2006 have never been the same. The factory should have died with him.

Amen!

Agree with KK, the factory's chapter should've closed when the Baldwins left.

Yes

No but it was a hire car not his own.

Agreed, Adam seems to have actually gotten more like Danny/Mike now

Of course it was Adam who originally sold his share of the factory to Liam from under Danny's nose.

I don't think the factory should have come back at all in 1997. The show had done just fine without one for eight years.
