Will they make an announcement if they did decide to shut the forums down or just take it off randomly one day without telling anybody? They better not get rid of these, just get rid of the crappy main site, nobody uses it any more now it's had its god awful revamp.

I remember when the Channel 4 News Forum closed, they announced it's closure and gave the date and basically just let everyone get on with it for the final few weeks.

Everyone tried to stake their claim with new forums and new places to go and it was all allowed.

Really? I think I'd like the cut of their jib.

Yes everything is Facebook and Twitter these days. I'm surprised they still have forums here, not that I'm complaining.

I hope they don't close the forums. Sure its got its issues, but its still a lively forum - that's still very much active. I've been on a forum that's closed, and believe me, DS is no where near those traffic wise. (Heck I was virtually the last poster on the closed forum).

Then again, the owners probably wouldn't listen to forum members calls for it to remain open. They'll just 'pull the plug' without warning.

The only deciding factor will be £££.

Considering their attitude to the forum re-design where they basically blanked any and all criticism and even removed threads from people offering solutions on how to retain the old design, I don't think i'd be massively shocked to click on the link for DS one day to find a holding page saying the forums have shut down.

If they do announce the closure of the forums, They do it on social media just to rub it in.

nearly all the metal detecting forums have closed or are very slow due to everybody going on facebook and starting their own.

I'm on a few Facebook groups. I suppose the big advantage is that trolling is very low and easy to deal with.

Sexual deviants are allowed to post here too. And I for one don't care about someone being an ex con, as long as they can do their job.

I was talking with a long serving FM who said the forums have been on their arse for years, best days long gone and it's likely closure or a minimal charge for usage is coming.
