Really hate the main page with the many dancing gifs making me cross eyed, I've got a top end PC and it still takes ages to load with the articles jumping all over the place.
Also hate the articles that tell me what to think in the headlines puts my back up straight away, like
You will love this band ...
You must listen to this ...
This is the greatest thing ever ...
Fall in love with this new person ... etc. etc.

This is not news and comes across as some cheep plugging

Forum is what makes the site, they be fools to get rid of it.

There where so many excellent Digital Spy Forum members, who have left, who I suspect the reason is the deteriation in some of the threads on here. I could list certain members who have sadly left these forums over the last few years. But in respect to them I won't.
Ian.

For me the removal of the forums would be of concern as they are very handy for help and to give help to others. Hope not

Given the number of times the forum goes slow, it is clear that it is eating a lot of bandwidth at peak times. This means it is costing them a lot - and needs moderation - which again costs them a lot.

Sadly it is likely to be high on the list of cost saving measures - based on past experience.

Perhaps it is time to set up an independent TV forum!

Would be a shame if the forums go.

Has anyone noticed on the main site (desktop version) the link to the forums has disappeared?

I only come here for the forums anyways, the news page is a total joke, full of click bait headlines, and worthless graphics / gifs which in no way relate to the story.
The news site has become awful, particularly since the last relaunch. I hope the forums survive though.

Maybe it could be a good thing if DS adopts a 'back to basics' approach instead of clickbait and "23 reasons we love..." Buzzfeed style articles.
This!

The DS forums are probably responsible for a good 70% or more of Digital Spy's audience.
Exactly - remove the forums, and DS is effectively no more.

didnt even realise there was more to the site than the forum to be honest.
To be fair, there really isn't

Indeed. If Hearst decide to close the forums, the mods here will be the last to know.
Again, this.

The central site was a great news site for many years but then it got redesigned and redesigned and redesigned, re-tasked and re-tasked and re-tasked, making it a site to avoid.
It became the home sensationalist nonsensical 'celeb' tripe and not what the site was founded upon and did well at.
The forums have declined in recent years too. Too many let through the flood gates creating silly and childish threads and looking for any excuse to be offended, or to BBC-bash for the 601st time this week or bemoan Clarkson or whinge over some news story on TV because it was second and not first or.....whatever!
And, too many trolls, who bait, actively and get away with it.

When i first joined DS Forums, it was an awesome place. Now, im here once a day at most. Made a few friends here and love the Sat Weekly thread, F1 thread and thats about it.
Makes me kinda sad when i read that back before posting....!
Great post

It's this site right here: https://www.avforums.com

That said, l hope that this set of forums continues to survive.
I had a look at AV Forums and liked what I saw, much more to my tastes and interests than the celeb obsessed DS, so I signed up.

DigitalSpy use vBulletin which is very popular forum software, they should be able to introduce features like that if they wanted to.

I don't think they'd ever move this forum to another system, it would be a mammoth task given there is 16 years worth of content.
Check out http://macrumors.com which has tight integration with the home page and forum although I'm not a fan of the home page as it's just a long blog list view. At the bottom of a article is a link to 'comments' this takes u to the forum and the auto generated forum post.

I remember they were hacked 2-3 years ago and made everything more secure

DS was brilliant for tv info back in the day but now it might as well be Hello or OK, at least the forums offer mostly intelligent debate. Maybe that's the problem intelligient people don't produce the right numbers.

I hope they don't close this forum. As frustrated as I can get with some posts on here, there really isn't anywhere else like it.

I assume the moderators are just volunteers.

It's still there when I look at it.

It seems to be bad coding as it appears and disappears depending upon screen size and zoom state

I'd be very surprised at that, given the size of the forum. it might not be the best paid job in the world but i doubt they do it for free

Getting rid of the forums would be a massive step backwards.

Loads of people use different forums as they can be incredibly useful for finding out information.

Yes, you get trolls who make scrolling through threads a chore especially when they're an omnipresence that just needs to log out permanently. But that aside, these forums are also a way of people interacting with each other and discuss similar interests.

I'm probably one of the few people who go on Google and purposely type "Digital Spy forums" as I don't find the homepage that useful. I'm more likely to go on the forums first, and then click to go onto the homepage later rather than the other way round.

But what percentage of the Digital Spy brand's profits?

I think he could be right about the 70% or maybe even more. Certain I am not the only DS Forumer who has never, and I sincerely mean never, been on the main DS website.

I bookmarked the forums page, so just click on Digital Spy Forums on my PC.
